Anybody having Crossfire issues with the Source Engine?

I've got a 4870x2 and a niggly issue with TF2 and the other Source engine games. When I first install the drivers and play TF2 all is fine for the first time I run the game. If I exit the game and re-load it I get nasty flickering and transparent textures. The game stays like this until I re-install the drivers then its fine for the first time only then the problem comes back.

If I disable CAT AI the problem goes away, but I'm only running on one GPU.... I've tried the 8.8betas and more recently the 8.9betas and both have the same issue.

Anybody had this before and fixed it?

Not tried any games as such but I ran the CS:S and HL:LC benchmarks on my 4870x2 and the only issue I'm getting is that when I quit them it doesn't give me my desktop back. It's like the desktop is there but I'm not seeing it, it either gives me a black screen or a corrupted view of the games menu screen but with the cursor.

But then I'm also having an odd issue with tabbing out of BF2, if it's the only app I have open it doesn't show the desktop when I alt-tab out, I have to ctrl-alt-del to get up the menu and then can see the desktop. Where as if I do have another app open I can alt-tab from BF2 to that with no problem.

But tbh I think I've mess up my XP x64 install by trying the drivers on the powercolor cd. :(

You could try and record a demo and stop it / or tab out and tab back in. That fixes some of the graphics bugs I get (but I only get these sometimes when I tab out)

What you could also try is playing at directX 8 or 9.0 (I'm not sure if TF2 supports dx 8). Just put -dxlevel 85 or -dxlevel 90 in tf2 launch options.

I've got 2 4850s in CF, and I don't have any problems with TF2, but in counter strike source I've got the flash bug (I think everyone gets this with CF), so when I get flashed my screen "shakes"

What performance do you guys get in CSS and TF2 with your Crossfire setups?

Edit: Particularly with the 4870X2.

Hmmm, fitting a new PSU has solved it. It appears my 730w Hiper type M was not up to the job.....

I hope that bag o crap PSU has not borked my card.....

*Edit* Spoke to soon, its just come back.....WTF

Interestingly, I started playing Dark Messiah of Might and Magic again. I've noticed that when I have a light source (torch, spell whatever) active any close objects have nasty flickering effect where it appears very banded. Far away objects are fine. If I remove the light source its ok.

Can't say I noticed this before. Using latest drivers (8.8?) with two 3870's in crossfire mode.

I've figured it out..... If I put my PC to sleep and resume it then TF2 exhibits the problems I've described. If reboot the PC all is well again.....Weird.

Its a pain as my mobo has a bug where it reads the CPU temp 16c higher than its actual temp after a reboot.....Putting my PC to sleep corrects that....

What performance do you get with the 4870X2? And at what settings?

Usually have 12x edge detect fsaa enalbed with 16x af. 1920x1200 an performance is usualy very high, tf2 can cause some gameplay slowdown however depending on whats going on.
