Anybody here with a CF475 Power rack able to do me a favour?

It may well be.

It's the one that doesn't have saber style spotters. They sort of slide in and then rotate to lock in.

Popped into the the powerhouse fitness in Charing Cross today.

Looks like I had the dimensions of the rack wrong in that it's 1300mm deep and 1160mm wide. But it's actually more like 1340mm deep as it has rubber stoppers slipped on the end which makes it too big to fit in my space soooooo....

I think I'll be taking a bit off the front end horizontals and it should do the job nicely.

Providing I can convince the mother of course!

They should be getting back to me with a quote tomorrow. I managed to find a better deal on weights with 245KG of cast iron plates and a 7ft olympic bar rated to 750KG for £400 hopefully they can better it, if not at least match it!

It says on their site that if you find a better price they will match it, so if you tell them they should lower it!

Fantastic!

I did show the chap yesterday and leave him a list, they were going to e-mail me a quote/breakdown today but haven't!

I'm not in a rush though, well I am, but I've quite a lot of crap to move out of that passage way and a mother to convince!:p

Thought I'd post them in here than de-rail (despite it being a general topic :p) the GymRatz thread.

Brief review:

Instructions

Brief, as to be expected, all diagrams, list of components. Very basic but then again it isn't exactly rocket science. As long as you look at them properly and think about what you're doing & in what order it's quite straight foward.

Will mention, I heeded advice I found elsewhere not to fully tighten bolts until it's entirely assembled. I hadn't done them fully tight, but fairly snug and this was pulling a hole out of allignment so had to loosen them off.

Pull/Chin Bars

Nice and solid, no wiggle, decent width, mild knurling. Might be slippery when sweaty but nothing some chalk wont sort out.

Dip Bars

Same as Pull/Chin bars really. I thought the holes on the spotter catcher were quite far apart and they are, however it seems to be an okay-ish position actually. Will comment more after some proper use. The rack did tip slightly, but should be fine once it has a loaded oly bar on it or some plates on the opposite rail. Dipping bars don't fit into the vertical rails, I had planned to use them as extra spotter catchers but this isn't possible.

Overall finish

Very good for what the rack costs (sub £300). Few blemishes/knocks but these may well have been me and provided it stays functional and does the job I'm not fussed!

Spotter/Catchers

Nice and big as you can see. Different to the ones in store, much bigger and look heavier duty. (might have been an old model in store?) Only 1 set though. However the vertical uprights have notches on both sides of all 4 rails so you can press from outside the rack on both the front and back which is good. Or use some on the back to counterbalance if you have a very heavy load on the front.

Deffinatley going to put some rubber or something similar inside the catchers and across the spotter rails to stop them getting damaged.

Stability/Build Time

Mine does have some carpet on it too at the moment though it is pritty solid. Minimal movement and I feel quite safe within it.

Should take around 2 hours. Built it all on my own apart from the last part where I had some assistance holding the section with the bars in place while I put a bolt in either side.

Overall so far I'm very pleased :)

Cool bit of kit

Hey! How you get dip bars? I want :(

Looks like they don't do them for 375:(

Used the catcher to do some inverted Rows and then used the Dip Bars for some hammer grip inverted rows. Under-estimated the knurling on the bars for pullups , ripped my hands to bits!

That looks awesome and some serious dedication getting it in that tiny spot for a workout!

Cheers, where there's a will there's a way ;)

will you get full use out of it in such a small space? you cant fit a bench in there can you?

iirc its just for legs as the equipment at his gym isnt enough?

Yup, spot on. Just to train legs really. Though I can use the pull up bars, dip attatchment, just about do overhead press in there and row/deadlift.

Have a gym 1 minutes walk away thats reasonably well equiped, just not for legs

When I move out I'll be able to use it fully, didn't buy a bench as at current I have no where to put one.

Just popped home from work to take delivery of:

245KG of plates
7ft 450KG rated Oly Bar - I was worried as this was cheap the ends wouldn'y have bearings/spin and would be fixed but this isn't the case :)
Bodysolid Olympic weights tree
6ft x 4ft rubber matting
Narrow grip cable attatchment handle.

Came on 2 pallets double stacked

The rubber matting weighs around 45KG and is insanely akward to carry! I'll have fun cutting that up later!

And I moved my split about so that today is my leg day! So I get to finally use it all later! \o/:D

Dear jesus that matting really is very akward and heavy to carry!

Here we are:

Very impressed with the BodySolid Weights tree. Total bargain at £72, absolutley solid and you can shift the posts to the left or right as you need. No wobble at all, even with 245KG on it!

Matting, again very impressed, absolutley zero flex on it, obviously bends but is still almost sold so VERY heavy duty! So should do a good job of protecting those tiles. Not bad for £59 for a 6 x 4ft sheet. Used the worlds nastiest & cheapest hack saw to cut it, which worked quite well. Also ate through the steel on the powercage pritty well last week too actually!

Impressed with the finish & quality of the plates, all to a high standard considering they are what I'd call budget plates. Gloss finish isn't exactly the same on them all but is still very good and I didn't buy them for the aesthetics or cosmetics! Paid £1.4 per KG which isn't bad at all for new plates!

The bar has some serious knurling on it, got a feeling that's going to callus my traps/rear delts up somewhat! :p As mentioned earlier both ends have bearing so will spin, though could do with an oiling I think.

Overall I'm a happy chappy, leg session in half an hour :D:D:D:D

Was a rather large investment if I'm honnest!

The Rack, Dip Bars & Resistance bands were £330 odd, Weights tree was £70, Matting was £60, Cable attatchment was £15, 185KG of weights was around £285, then another 80KG was best part of £120 and because of the fluff up with power house the pulley attatchment which hasnt arrived (which is for use when I move out) was another £60. Not far off a grand

Though it can be done for quite a lot less if you didnt have a weights tree, dip bars, bands, matting, cable attatchment & more than enough weight!

As mentioned in the GymRatz thread again my bench & leg ext/curl arrived today. For the meantime it's living in my bedroom. Which means trekking some plates upstairs! However in the new year I'm going to convince mum to finally throw those fricking carpets out and this can live out the back with the powercage! Took advantage of the 25% off at powerhouse fitness :)

Lots of snaps. It's a 'Bodycraft F602 Deluxe' And I'll pop the word 'review' in here so this comes up in google for anyone looking for a review :p

Initial thoughts:

Decent build quality, feels very sturdy. Pad widths are good, doesn't constrict the arms coming back and isn't too soft or too hard. I imagine it will soften slightly with time. As you can see you don't quite get a vertical incline but this is good enough. If I want a vertical incline I'll sit on it sideways and do stuff without a backrest, or standing. It does have wheels on the far end so you can move it easily. The height/length of the pads are good supporting your head/neck well.

When I eventually move out/have space to use my cage properly: I have no idea what this is rated upto but I imagine it's good for 250-300KG. I doubt it'll see much more than 200-220KG outside of a cage so should have spotter bars there should it collapse.

The leg attatchment isn't bad at all. Height adjustable. The horn will take standard plates, olympic ones slide about a bit durling leg curls but it's no biggie. Can fit about 5 full thickness cast iron plates, my 20's are the same thickness as my 10's. I will probaly take it to a metal works and get them to weld a larger one on in the future. It could also do with some wider bars for the rollers as my thighs are quite large and so is my regular stance. When doing a few curls earlier the rollers were digging in to my thighs abit but currently got some DOMS in them. Can always modify a bit of 18" MDF to lay across it to give a flat platform to spread even pressure on the thighs.

Quite happy with. Will post some more detailed thoughts are a few uses. Back squats, front squats, Deadlifts and SLDL in the passageway and then upstairs (if I can make it up them!) to finish off with some ext/curl
