a sata to usb (3). My case has no space for a regular bay driven burner so am thinking of placing it on top of the case next to an associated USB slot:

I ended up buying the Asus TurboDrive BW-16D1H-U Pro External Blu-Ray Writer for its archiving capability with M-disc

I can confirm the Asus Turbodrive BW-16D1H-U burns verbatim 6X blu ray discs at 12 X with no issue whatsoever.
