Hi all

Got a dart board for Christmas as I've finally made space to put one up... I've always watched the darts on tele and played at pubs etc...

Just wandered if anyone on here plays darts and has any tips or recommendations for darts, weights and sizes etc

Thanks

To start with I’d stick to an average weight of 23-24g, with a minimum of 90% tungsten. The grip and barrel shape is all a matter of preference. Most people go through quite a few sets before finding a set that really suits them.

My current set are these bomb shaped darts https://www.dartscorner.co.uk/harrows-ice-darts-steel-tip-i-c-e-ringed-24g-p879

You can also buy a tune up set. This contains different shafts and flights so you can mix and match to find your perfect combo.

Don’t fret about the dart too much. Technique is far more important. Once you get that right, you’ll be able to throw 90% of darts well.

The world darts is on atm. If you watch it, you might be able to pick out some players darts you like the look off. The vast majority of these darts are sold as players signature darts, like these https://www.dartscorner.co.uk/michael-smith-darts-unicorn-steel-tip-bully-boy-maestro-premier-p16757

Cheers for the reply bud, I have a set of Rob Cross darts at 24g, just ordered another set but with fatter barrels on them to see if I throw any better with them, I like your choice of darts, very smart...

I've noticed over the last day or two my throws seem to drift abit to the left of the board and end up in the 5 or treble 5, it seems I have the right height on the throw just obviously needs some adjustment to get onto the 20's instead..

Thanks for the link to that site, they have plenty on there so will grab a few bits from there, been watching some of the darts, I like Gerwyn Price but he seems hated by many :p

Cheers

Drifting left is quite often a sign of releasing the dart too late. Practice getting the release the same point every single throw

Ahh OK, I guess it will come over time... I play about an hour to 2 hours everyday but play 501 on my own or just try aiming for treble 20 most times... Really struggle with anything low down like 19,17 etc
