Hi all,

I'm thinking of going dual core and was looking at the Pentium D 950 - 3.4Ghz - Presler CPU.

Has anybody got any experience of this?

Does it clock well..? Does it run hot?

Thanks.

If you're not in a rush then I'd hang on for Conroe, I actually quite like Pressler though, compared to the usual Netburst nastiness it seems to do very well, plenty of cache and clocks nicely. It does run pretty hot, but the change to 65nm seems to keep it under control.

i'd suggest a 920/930

im running the 920 the reserator @ 4.5Ghz for benching, will be aiming for around 4.8 with the droop mod, just need to convince myself before i put solder to board (and destoy it lol) :D

Thanks, Done! does this stablise the v-core or am i asking for the impossible. :)
Not sure as the C1E settings + TM2 are what cause the Vcore volts to deliberately fluctuate to lower the temps by reducing the vcore. Turn off both of these in the Bios then when you restart your vcore will be the same stable voltage (and run hotter).

This 0704 bios definately fixes a few major issues within the bios like settings going missing or losing settings after ocing. It even adds a new bios setting altogether although cannot remember what. Asus are being very secretive about it by leaking it out there but not saying what exactly it fixes (maybe they are embarrased by it all!).
