anybody recommend a portable cheap/reasonable priced off camera and umbrella flash stand

That's what I thought but when looking through Google they kept coming up with comments saying suitable for Cannon and nikon. Would the type b bracket be suitable for Fuji then?

It's a metal screw which you can put either a bracket to hold a strobes or hotshoe. It's just an attachment to sit a flash onto really. There is normally also a hole where an umbrella can be stick through.

Or you have that brass metal bit to stick up the bottom of the strobe.

I wanted something basic to get the flash off the camera. So something like a 60cm Bowens S-Type Speedlite Speedlight Flash Diffuser Softbox + 2m Light Stand might do me for a start.

Bowen went bust a couple of months ago btw :p Although those stands are Bowen, had it for years, pretty bomb proof.

Just a stand of a size that you want, get a bracket like above, make sure it's metal because when you stick a soft box or umbrella on, due to the leverage, it needs to be strong enough to hold the soft box at the angle that you want so you want metal parts, not plastic parts.

Got mine, 65" Parabolic, around £45 for a pair. the stands were £30 and the brackets are metal. I don't use them enough to warrant larger or more features, so standard white with white umbrella rods to eliminate reflections) works great. I don't have a link as they are many years old now, but plenty on Amazon/eBay.

The stands can then be used with other modifiers such as softboxes/snoots/gels you get the...picture :p
