Basically I don't want to buy him the usual mediocre stuff from Argos, was looking at something with more umph but obviously not too much. Also didn't want to spend more than £80 all in.

I have found the Radline Warpath 1:24 RC Monster Truck for £30 odd. It looks good although it is lacking in a rechargable battery pack (it runs on AAAs but you can buy NiMh AAAs can't you?).

Has anyone had any experince of the Radline cars?

The other option is a Sacker Sport 1:18 Truggy for £70. Seems more 'real' but more money and I think it may be too fast for him.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Just found a Nitrotek Bug Crusher, none available until October but it looks really good. 1/10 scale as big and heavy enough not to break first go, fast without being scary fast. £80 delivered.

Any advice?

i would say he's seven, don't go mad because he'll likely as not break it on his first go, your probably better off buying 2 :p, got a modelzone near you? they sell some decent RC stuff, might be worth a look, other than that can't really help.

I got my boy a Traxas Jato for his 7th, he loved it, never broke once either, he's had nearly 3 years now, if you dont mind 2nd hand you could get one in your price range and get a new shell for it, for a youngster Traxas are great, onboard starter motor all in one push button starting.

I know what you mean but he is dead set on an RC car and the usual stuff aimed at 7 year olds is rubbish.

All of the models I have mentioned are complete kits including controller, batteries etc.

I am not venturing into the Tamiya terretory for a few more years!

The Traxas ones all look a bit adavance and over budget to be honest.

Has anyone got/seen a Nitrotek car? They seem very cheap for what you get but reviews and youtube videos seem to imply people are happy with them.
