I'm just about to get myself a desktop replacement.... Basically the wife had took over the man room sob.

Now I'm looking at the best gaming laptop in the world.... And then quickly realising I'll now be getting something for £2000 and not having the fastest machine in the world.

Wow the prices are shocking.... But to be expected.

I'm now reading about alienwares and razors enclosures where you can use a desktop card.

So this has threw a spanner in the works... I was trying to get a laptop with a GTX 980 in.... But realise my budget is more 980m.

I currently have a desktop i7 pc here granted a little old.... But I have a gtx970 card here.

The laptop will never really hook up to a bigger screen than the 17 so I'm thinking it would be overkill.

But it has got me thinking.... Do these work with any laptop with a thunderbolt socket? Or are they locked to alienware and razor laptops?

What's your thoughts.... It seems to give a little expansion down the road.... But surely as the cards get faster they are limited by the thunderbolt transfer rate?

And if you guys could recommend a laptop for 2k.
Not really bothered about portability..... A slab is still smaller than a desktop
Never bought a laptop for years.......

As I understand it. Alienware only works with Alienware systems. The Razer Core has been claimed to work with any thunderbolt equipped laptop but, has no release date in sight.

Asus G752's look very well spec'd

The Asus ROG G752VY-RH71-HID12 G-SYNC 17.3" (i7-6700HQ 2.6-3.5GHz / GTX 980M 4GB / 256GB PCIe SSD + 1TB HDD / 32GB RAM / BLURAY) can be picked up within your budget.

I have this exact laptop, it's great. Had i waited a year I may have considered one of the gsync laptops instead though (newer gen). All games I thow at it are great (60hz screen mind). Performance is great if that is your concern.

Hope this helps

Would love to see these actually work. Asus have also announced the ROG XG station 2 external device. I want something to future proof my G751 a bit
