As per title does anybody use or have feedback on GFI Max and associated products (Vipre AV, IASO Backup)?

It would be considered for small business customer monitoring perhaps with the AV and online backup add-ons.

I used to use gfi max (aka hounddog) at an old company.

it did what it said on the tin, i.e. basic monitoring (and for a support company fast to setup a basic profile), so ok for montoring an external client

i think GFI charge about £6 per server per month (thou might be wrong was a few years ago) so monitoring any more that a few servers can quickly get expensive

note:always got to recommend a nagios solution for montioring, but that would no doubt exceed what you need here

+1. I work for a company that sells a commercial monitoring solution based on Nagios; definitely the best by far (simply because you can use plugins from the Nagios Exchange and just drop them straight in).

It depends on what your looking for - GFi/Kaseya and the likes are more all-round tools for asset management/updates/patches etc whereas my company Opsview, Solarwinds, Zenoss, etc exist pretty much solely for Network/APM monitoring.

Thanks for the feedback guys I'm still playing with it here on our systems to get a feel for it, the console is a bit fugly but as long as it does the job I guess that's not a deal breaker.

Is Vipre AV any good? I think there were some positive threads over on edugeek some time ago but apart from that I have not really heard much feedback on it.

I implemented antispam it at my previous employer. Worked pretty well and the spam filter catches the vast majority without too many false positives.
