Anybody with Gmail get a load of spam today?

Just noticed I had 19 emails in my junk folder all from today. When I mentioned to my girlfriend she said she had a similar thing this morning.

Then somebody just posted one of the emails I received on FB.

Has this happened to everyone?

I hate it when I can see the number next to the folder, it really bothers me so I have to delete them. I'm a bit obsessive compulsive with things like that.

Just thought it was strange that they all arrived today.

I never even look at the spam folder... in fact I have to actively click on the sidebar to look at it... currently have about 600 or so mails in there

Same here. I occasionally take a peek when looking for something I'm expecting that hasn't arrived. But apart from the it just sits there being ignored.

Some of my outlook (Hotmail) profiles were the same, gmail missed tons of spam, junk etc, and so did outlook, but only for a small period of time overnight, assuming some filtering failed on both companies, or the cunning spammers found a way around that was swiftly blocked.

I use Mailbox for Mac (never log in through a browser) so not sure if I can remove it. Although if I could, I'd know there are probably unread spam in there and it would still bother me

I did on hotmail. Very odd as usually it is a manageable trickle. The only thing I've signed up for is a quote to get my wheels returned, which did did say about sharing with select third party partners but I wasn't too bothered as it is my secondary email. So it could be that or a big conspiracy etc

One of the guys in the office and his missus got the same. About 30 odd emails from last night to this morning but they weren't filtered into spam. He and his mrs use an iphone. Myself and my boss didn't get any more than normal spam, we don't use iphones.....coincidence?

I set up a rule to mark all messages that go in junk as read. I also excluded my name & alias just in case a message is marked as spam.

Two Hotmail accounts had a lot overnight and into this morning, stuff that usually goes straight to Junk was missed.

I only get 1 or 2 junk e-mails about every 10 days and there normally from well know places that I use like "handtec ,amainhobbies ,etc "

I have an old Hotmail account linked to my Gmail so that's where it will have come from. Need to remove it.

Yeah, I never go in my spam folder so I never see them. I got 30 yesterday, quite a lot from someone called Olga about some exotic Russian women waiting for me and someone called Jason asking if I want to be on TV.
