Well my pc was broke and the dudes in the yellow pages were charging like 50-60 quid for 30mins.

Assuming you can get work, this seems pretty lucrative.

I purchased the COmptai A+ training book from amazon and could sit the tests I guess or just learn and self advertise regardless.

at 100 quid an hour Id only need a few jobs per week lol. Seems to good to be true.

ANd IMO the average joe will be calling to fix simple problems such as cant get there printer or internet working or need new soundcard/gfx card etc...Install a new ahrd drive or xp etc..

Im sure many people need help with these real simple things because my freinds and relatives do lol

at 100 quid an hour, you would need so much certification, that a single home user wouldn't be your market, that would be mid to high end businesses etc etc

Well tbf all the dudes in the yellow pages were charging 50 quid for 30mins when I was quoted (most just a name no certificates). It seems standard.

I paid a guy 50 quid to fix my soundcard he was only here 30mins.

5x30mins jobs per week=250 quid not bad.

you paid some idiot 50 quid to fix a soundcard? when you can buy a brand new one with warranty for like under 30? ( Asus Xonar DG )

And deduct your expenses.

What expenses? None really? petrol?

You paid somebody to fit a soundcard? :D:D

Edit: Oh you said fix - point still stands though :)

Ok my soundcard was worth 150 quid. And I need this card too work as its the only one I can get spdif to record with my guitar so I had to get it fixed. It was a problem with the power supply and soundcard. I had tried everything I knew to fix it with no luck. This was a last resort.

Or maybe it was 30 quid for 30mins.Im sure it was 50? maybe it was 40 lol..anyway still a lot off money for 30mins work.

A mate does this as a business and whilst he does get some business, its not a large income. Oversaturated market with many many people doing it. As a guide after 1-2 years building up expect to earn around 6k per year...

Also £100 per hour, I don't think so. More like £30-40 for the whole job + parts.

Ah well nevermind was just an idea, back to the drawing board!

At least hopefully the COMPTIA book will come in handy for me if I get any future problems so not 25 quid wasted
