Got a new music BD and wanted to explore how easy it is for BD ripping.

I'm not asking for anything illegal just need to understand how it all works.

Its not the same or as easy like chucking a relatively new BD with AnyDVD and expect it to rip 1:1 onto a hard drive?

Does it have to do the encryption side of things before it can successful rip the content?

AnyDVD does it all for you.
It strips the protection on the fly, so any disc you insert will be unprotected straight away.
Then you only have to use the ripper and off you go.

Bear in mind that the Bluray format differs from DVD, so extracting audio from the movie will not be as easy as it is with DVD.

I had a go with my uncles BD-Rom. I brought new music BR but anyDVD HD needed an update to remove the protection.

Update = License required

So if i choose to purchase a license then i guess AnyBD will strip all the protection and copy onto hard drive.

Yes, it'll strip the protection automatically, all you need to do is activate the ripper in the system tray icon.

Have a look around, there might be some free alternatives around, AnyDVD uses a subscription type payment system now, a while back they used a one off fee method. :(
