Anyone a farmer?

Any idea why they would do this?

I live in a rural area but not a farmer, I can't understand why they harvested or mowed the odd shaped section of this wheat field, it clearly isn't ready for harvest yet.

I've never seen them do this before.

Could be control of something to stop it spreading, or maybe they were doing a sample


Maybe it had been battered by wood pigeons so they decided to extract that small area, meaning pigeons could use that area to feed rather than battering the rest of the crops? who knows
