Anyone actually got a heatercore from a scrapyard?

As said in title, if you have can you post how much you paid for it, how easy it was to put the barbs on and what tools are necessary, or does everyone buy them?

I have never done it but I imagine you need to go from a big diameter connection to a smaller one and the difficulty is getting the correct connector as I think the connection to the heatercore is with a hose.

I once used a heatercore from an Austin Maestro, worked really well.

Was it easy to fit the barbs etc, did you just go and pick it up?

i just streached the tubing over the standard heatercore pipes by heating the tubbing up using boiling water, bit fiddly but worked

think it was £10 rinsed it throughly with water untill the water came through clear which wasnt long lol, not sure if any one will recomend any special cleaning solutitions.

heatercores imo are better than the specalised rediators that you can buy in terms of bang for buck cooling the worst part tho is mounting them which can be tricky. make sure you measure the dimensions of space that you are going to fit it to so you dont get something the wong shape / size

oooh ill post pictures of some of the items i wanted to use for a rad but never could due to leaks, dad fixes out cars at home some of which are damaged repairables so spares / bits n bobs about

Thanks Binaryknight, I'm planning to mount it outside of the case so hopefully size wont be an issue. Have you got a fan shroud on yours? Can you post pics of yours if possible?

I followed the tip here to make this
