I use 2 intake fans, both 1200rpm (after market blue led ones), and the standard 140 fan up top that came with the case on mid setting, and a 1900 rpm scythe juni on my water radiator thats on the outside of my case, that is set to pull air from the radiator, so takes some, but not a lot of air from the case.
The main reason i use 2 intake fans are 2 fold, the bottom front intake mainly cools my hard drive, as i have placed the drive in the 2nd bottom slot, so that the air goes over and under it. the top front intake is for air to directly enter the rest of the case.
The 3 case fans are hooked up to a fan controller, and only on hot days are they set to max.
My temps today have been as follows
Cpu idle 30c Gaming 39/41c Prime/Occt 49/52c Occt Linpack 60c
Chipset ranging from 28c idle up to 31/32c gaming and 35c under heavy sustained load.
Hard drives been a steady 18C all day, mainly due to samsung F1s running cool, and the fan mentioned above.
these are all from my system in my sig, please note that my cpu is water cooled, but it is low end water, so more or less like having a high end air cooler.
About the side fan, i used it for abit then tested without, it really did'nt make much difference to my temps, so i blocked up that fan intake there.
So to answer u question i would adivise atleast 1 intake, if only to have cooler air going under/over your hard drive.
Quick edit:
I would also advise against using intel burn test, intel themselves has stated that it adds far to much pressure to there cpu's.
