I binge drink and worry about my drinking

Not as bad as I use to, just getting older and realising that drink is not what its cracked up to be, can go out and have couple of pints in a pub or can go out and do a day session.

Only drink once a week now, unless on holiday (actual going on holiday)!

I drink a 4 pack of Fosters and a 500ml bottle of vodka daily. It starts from about 9am (can before work), at work I'm able to drink vodka as it's for the most part odourless and looks like water in my cup.

The other 3 cans are drank at home with my evening meal and while watching corrie.

That's quite a heavy load. I've been worse at times myself, getting on for a litre of whiskey a day

How long have you been knocking it back to that extent?

I did it for about 6 months at my worse and then went cold turkey. 6 nights of no sleep, sweating like a pig, anxiety, pukeing, the trots...

But didn't half feel a lot better for quitting.

As for the vodka supposedly oderless, I've been caught out before "You've been drinking vodka haven't you!". And Fosters is just for lightweights ;)

I suggest you see a doctor - that's ridiculous.

I explained on page 3, which surprises me as I'd imagine page 3 is where you normally get your best material from ;).

Feel bad now, I was only playing mate.

Read the whole thread. :p ;)

I don't drink because of a medical condition but I would never binge drink or get actually drunk anyway.

I would however drink a can or two of beer per day, purely because I like beer, or have wine at lunch and dinner. Nothing wrong with that.

LOL I had my suspicions at the mention of Fosters - no alchy worth their salt would drink flavoured water.

My missus drinks a bottle of wine a night, sometimes more at the weekends. She took it badly when I first told her she was an alcoholic. Most people seem to think that you're not an alcoholic unless you wander the streets unwashed and abusing strangers.

I'd say 50% to 60% of the people I know, mostly women interestingly, are alcoholics they'd just never admit it or perhaps don't realise.

Funny how you would class that as an alcoholic, I would be more than happy to do that and still not class as an alcoholic.

It would be classed if you would keep drinking till you spew, then carry on drinking, couple of hours sleep, wake up, crack open a cold one for breakfast. Rinse & repeat...funny how people see alcoholics in different ways.

This thread is making me gag for a pint right now...think I may have to purchase a 4 pack tonight on way home :D

Thanks for doing a poll :)
I do believe a lot of people do drink too much and I am one of them.
I started drinking on a regular basis around ten years ago.
I used to work alternate shifts 4 on 4 off, nights and days.
I would get home from work at 6.00 am and have a couple of cans to help me unwind and get to sleep.
I am aware I need to stop or seriously cut down.
It amazes me that considering how much damage too much booze can do to your body that its legal, although I guess it will never be banned due to the amount of money the government get in tax revenue.

A bottle of wine a night? That is some serious going. I would class it as dependent on alcohol, how about going for a run or a walk or doing a hobby to relax at night!

I enjoy a drink to unwind sometimes.

I dont see it as 'oh it's an alcoholic drink so I must not drink it tonight' situation.

If I want one I'll have one.

Saying that I do t touch a lot in the week now, cut to 5-6 years ago and I was drinking 4-6 pints most nights.

Binge drinks, but it's only nice maybe twice a month now. Don't drink during the week at all.

So although I binge drink I'm not worried about it.
