Anyone aware of any issues with MSI onboard Realtek Audio dying?

I built up my new system a few weeks ago. Today, I installed a m.2 NVME drive and after starting back up again I've noticed my onboad audio is no longer working....

I've pulled everything out that I can (GPU, m.2 drive, all other hard drives, unecessary front audio and usb connectors etc) and tested it up on my bench away from the case. The problem persists. I even did a 100% clean fresh install of Win10 on a spare drive. Same results.

The audio driver is loaded just as before but when I test any of the outputs (clicking on the speaker images in the Realtek control panel) I just get a dull thud and a little static. No audio from any other source either...

The board is an MSI MAG Tomahawk Z490

Not that board but i've had a BIOSTAR B360 that the onboard just went missing one day and reflash/reinstall etc... never got it back. Realtek Audio as well. I just use a DAC and its been fine last couple of years.

Was purchased from Amazon so my support request was turned into a refund/return straight away. Ordered a replacement that arrived yesterday - swapped out and working fine... very very odd - hopefully a one off - I'll be annoyed if it happens again.
