Man of Honour
Use the train a fair bit for work or for the last few weekend breaks we've taken to York but its all been LNER and luckily all been First Class which is pleasant enough. Much prefer the East Coast train to buggering about with flying into London now.
Usually can get train tickets for a similar cost to flying (by the time I factor in taxi's, etc).
I also use Scotrail between Edinburgh and Glasgow - £30 odd return for a 40 mile journey seems steep compared to the cost of the ticket to say York or London on LNER but it is what it is; I know a lot of folk were upset that the Scottish Government dropped the funding which meant that all tickets were at "off-peak" prices rather than "peak" but given the financial pressures on all public services I don't see that all taxpayers subsidising peak rail fares was fair at this point. I'd probably rather seem them reset and try and even out peak/off-peak fares a little so there's one fare level.
