On the flight back from Hong Kong me and my sister got stopped at customs, it must be my look after staying up the entire flight watching movies. Even though we didn't have anything illegal it was quite nerve racking for some reason whe he fired off some pretty standard questions.

Anyone been searched and anyone been caught ?

I get searched quite regularly at customs. I have a habit of looking guilty when faced with men with guns.

Either that or its the kinda student/vacent/stoner look I have sometimes :S

Never been caught with anything, obviously, but it is quite nerve wracking.

Yes, I got stopped in Naples airport by the customs. I kept setting off the metal detector, ended up with all my pockets emptied and my belt and boots scanned sperated

It did feel quite disconcerting considering the customs guys were huge and armed :( Luckily I had nothing to hide and was eventually sent on my way.

Never been stopped, 9 times out of 10 there is never anyone there (I guess they are watching on CCTV)

Flight back from Hong Kong, the customs were out in force though.

Never been stopped :)
Well unless you count the multiple times flying to the US where they ask if you have such and such in your bag. Which is a quick 'No' and that's it.

Brother get stopped at customs in Amsterdam like 7 years ago though so I had to stand around while they asked the questions

Got stopped going into japan and was asked to open me suitcase...Some sleazy little dude went through all my stuff and even wanted to look in the lining. Took ages and he was right smarmy..

Never been stopped coming back into the UK tho...im white. :o

I was searched on the way out of Heathrow when going to meet my family in New Zealand en route to my brother's wedding in Fiji.

Was standing in a check in queue of about a hundred people, and was the only one picked out.

Didn't mind and tried to have a laugh with them but they weren't having any of it.

Said jovially things like "I suppose I fit the profile - asian, alone, little baggage (parents has taken most my stuff for me)"

But they refused to even be polite about it.

I understand the need to be professional, and how important security is, but the fact is that the majority of people they search are perfectly innocent, and are being put out by what they are doing, butthey could have at least had a bit of common courtesy.

"Could you please stand over there and remove your trousers this won't hurt a bit..."

lol, i hope not, it was in full view of everyone walking past !

more like

Who packed your bags?
If someone else packed your bags, were you there the whole time?
Been asked to carry anything from anyone?
Got anything you are not supposed to in there?
Do you know what you are not supposed to bring in?
Any meat, milk or dairy?
20,000 ciggies or 50 cases of wine?

I always seem to set off metal detectors no matter what I wear, its the highlight of my flight getting patted down by a hairy security guard :p

I've also been pulled into a customs shed at Calais and had guns pointed at me by French customs

Im always stopped usually on my way back from Canada...must be because im asian and a muslim so it must set off their 'all muslims are bomb packing terrorists' detectors:p:D.

But seriously im always stopped...not that i have anything to hide and if they get funny with me i just give them plenty of attitude...funny thing is that i usually get stopped by some scrawny asian kid lol. Not been caught with anything that i shouldnt have been carrying...custom people are a miserable bunch of ****s.

I got stopped on the way out of Bulgaria. Bloke running the xray machine took me to one side, asking how much I smoke. I don't smoke I said. Why are you taking so many cigarettes back to the UK then? I'm not I said. You are he said. And on it went for about 10 repetitions with him ending in saying I was in a lot of trouble, especially because I was lying. Fine I said - open the suitcase then. Opened the suitcase to find six books lying end on end in the suitcase. Xray guy looked rather peeved and told me to get lost, literally!

Leaving Milan a few years ago a Security guard took exception to me smiling which led to my friends and I being asked to sit down to one side for 10 mins while they went through our passports a million times. They eventually let us go.

Airport staff barely have the will to live, let alone to smile..So seeing someone smiling must have been so bizarre to them, they must have thought you were smuggling something or other.

I get stopped whenever I go to the states. It's because there is a British guy with the same name as me, who doesn't look like me, is 20 years older than me, has different fingerprints and a completely different biometric passport.

Obviously that means I require a 30 minute interview to tell us apart.

I also got stopped going into SA recently because we bought some booze in duty free. They put both bottles in one bag and so I got stopped for having double the limit even though my wife wasn't carrying anything.

Stopped twice. The first time was because i was by myself coming back from the netherlands and i was bricking it (obviously). The guy was friendly and kind, just had the briefiest of looks through my bags, asked me what i was doing in the netherlands, told me about his friend working over there, i think he wanted a chat more than anything else.

Second time was a lot more intense, a guy from special branch came over, checked my details to make sure i wasnt on the run, then they gave my bags the 100% job though they put my stuff back exactly as i had it. That time i didnt have a thing to worry about and so it wasnt a problem.

I got stopped in Turkey airport about 12 years ago. They made me turf out the 18" hooked blade I'd bought in the market and some crazy spiked dog collar with sets of 4" spikes all the way round it that the stallholder told us was to keep the wildlife off the dogs. What have they got like lions over there or something? Anyway, my mate put this collar on and started comedically roaring and they all started laughing and made us pack it all back in, then let us on the flight.

Things were great back then :D

Oh and whenever my mate Raj comes over from SA to go to Lemans with us they always haul him out the car and search him on the way back in. He does look like a terrorist though.
