Anyone been to Egypt?

I've been to Egypt 3 times for a total of 6 weeks and none of us have any trace of tummy upsets because WE DON'T EAT UNLESS WE'VE WASHED OR GEL'd.
I think Egyptians are brilliant and I'd live in Luxor in a heartbeat, if you just say 'no' and walk on then no problem.

Been 7 times, 8 in 6 weeks..

Not done the "touristy" Cairo & Luxor bits, not really what interests us, we go for the Red Sea, Diving.

THe people are really friendly, never had a problem with dodgy food, (maybe too much sun, too little water)

Enjoy it, it's a great country, people shouldnt be put off by the past 18 months to be honest, we was out in Egypt during the Arab spring, and it didn't affect us at all

I went to Oman in 2008, Although not the same country it has some of the same aspects.

The people, yes they are pushy but they are very funny.

Diving, is amazing.

Went quite a few years ago. Stayed in Luxor and did a day trip to the Cairo museum.

Loved the place, a lot more than i thought i would. The Pyramids are breathtaking, however, litter is a problem. I'd never have thought the Pyramids were right on the edge of the city.

Careful with window shopping, they'll try and get you in the shop all the time.

They'll ask you where you're from, and they'll respond to you with "I have a brother in (where you said)" - of course they do.

Faboulous place though, an experience i'll never forget.

I got back from Sharm El Sheik last month.

Take lots of pound coins or 50p's for tipping hotel staff.
Take flippers or those rubber shoes for walking around in the sea with
If you don't like haggling or being harassed, don't leave the hotel :p
Take this and use it lots;

You will get the trots. I have a stomach of iron and I still managed to get quite friendly with the loo! My fiancé managed to really screw up her digestive system since being in sharm, and it hasn't been the same since.

To back up what others have said. LOTS of hand gel, and get your own snorkels.

I came back last month & the hotel gave the snorkling stuff for free :D... if your hotel has a private beach i would expect they do... where you staying (sorry if i missed that info)?

Yeh since everyone is going on about the pyramids well .. i though it was amazing although expect lots of hassle and a very long day. We left at 4.30am and back to the hotel at 11pm (that was by plane)! I had the trots too was a difficult day lol. 1st sign of trots go to pharmacy and get antinal (i think that what is was) it helped a lot was about £4. I would say go to pyramids 1st couple of days you get there you may not have the trots by then.

Cairo was a poo hole ... & very dirty!

Snorkling was amazing .. lots of jellis tho!

All in all had a great time!
