Thinking of going there as a stopover while in dubai, on my way to malaysia,

Any comments? Places to stay etc?

i PERSONALLY wouldn't want to stay in what is possibly the most volatile country at the moment ;) (as in may burst into a war at any time)

But that's just my opinion :)

Tom.

I'd go to Iran via Israel ;) (seriously not a good idea as you won't get into any arab states!)

I'd go straight to Dubai :D

Qatar, Barhrain are all in quick flying distance (ie 1-2 hours) and perhaps a look if your interested. Check for visa requirements though.

In february I did london->dubai->barhrain->manila->hongkong->london for business in one week.

How long is the stopover?

Been to both of those places and they are pretty much the same, just like Dubai.

Stopover is as long as I like

there are some very very lovely iranian girls.

Persian girls you mean??, yes they are some very very hot looking ones...thankfully they live in Dubai so i get to see the best of them :p:D

Would i go to iran??, yes why not??. Would love to go and see what the countrys all about. Just because they are playing silly beggars with the US over the nuclear stuff doesnt scare me at all. Id so love to go and see the Ayatollah and have a good laugh with him...maybe even smoke a fat blunt with him hehe :p:D

But yeh id definitely go if there was a business opportunity that my company could see there or forget that i dont mind going on a holiday there...hmmmmm theres an idea for a summer holiday.

Egypt has no problem with an Israeli Stamp

Egypt has signed a peace treaty with Israel though, Iran, on the other hand, apparently wants to eradicate Israel from the face of the earth :o

Personally id go and enjoy the trip. You wont stand out so i wouldnt worry about that, just be aware that SHOULD hostilities break out while you are there you may end up in camp X-RAY for a while classes as an "enemy combatant" for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Then after 5 years you get shipped back here and the SUN will call you a traitor and your life will be hell. :p
Well thats what happened to the poor buggers who were in the middle east when the other war kicked off!

Nope, and i will never go. Youl just be asking for trouble as a westerner.

Rubbish

Iran has a small but thriving tourist industry and is apparently one of the most beautiful countires in the middle east.

I've got family who lived out there and lost everything during the revolution but they would go back in a second.

Regardless of what you seen in the news with all it's high level rhetoric, bluster and tensions about nuclear weapons, I doubt there is anything to worry about at all. In the last few months I read articles in several newspapers about holdaying in Iran and I'm thinking about having a holiday there in 2008.

I've been to Burma/Myanmar and I'd be more worried there than in Iran.

I know a pair of Iranian students. They have little faith in the government of their country, and are convinced themselves that Iran wish to build a nuclear weapon. Their word is good enough for me, so I'd stay away :p
