anyone been to lloret de mar in spain?
is it a good place?
is it expensive, what was the prices on food, drinks, transportation?
whats there to do?

thanks!

Lloret de mar (tree by beach)

Nice town, quiet, nice beach, has a great night life and plenty of things to do.

Renfe is your local transport (Train service that runs down the coast line and you can change at Girona/Salt for direct train to Barcelona etc)

Drinks are dead cheap in the supermarket, 6 bottles of San Miguel is less than 2 euros, if you was to eat and drink out you will be expected to pay in the region of 1.50 - 3.00 euros a bottle. Local food is average priced, again dead cheap in the supermarkets if you was to go self catering.

Lloret de Mar is a average priced place, has a massive market on Saturdays so you will be able to find many things cheap.

What to do in Lloret de mar? It depends on what you like.

Went there a couple of years back for a school trip, nice enough place. My opinion was clouded by the fact that the trip was described as a Barcelona trip, even though that meant getting on a coach for an hour each way just to get to Barca...

1-3 euros for a drink on average and approx 5 euros each for typical plate of local food.

Went in october, stayed at the royal casino hotel, it was a poo hole but we wernt there for the hotel free food though and the local footie team was right next door. Yhe staff have not got their hearts in the job and are fools.

Only just up the road there is a strip club were i am...ahem...reliably informed that if your nice enough (and give your cash) they do more than just strip....if you get my drift. also go karts is next door - perfect night out :D

Few nice clubs on the main strip - buddys and Tropics both have themed nights including Playboy night which was a laugh. Few so called english pubs down the road too - picadillys UK bar was alright, one of the fruit mahcines there was brilliant, paid out even if you lost so kept me in beer money

Quite a few nice women around when i went, altough i have to say the natives were not quite as willing to get "close" as girls in the UK. Lots of scallies and chavs seem to end up there. Also is a magent for swis and germans; and lots of UK hen parties...brilliant

The beach is little more than a gravel trap. Most of it seemed to end up in my swim shorts! walked around the shops with what can only be described as a hemeriodal lump of gravel after a swim.

Met loads of great people from all over the place, even argentina - they tried to teach me to dance and spectactualy failed lol

over all its a pretty nice place

barcelona is a long two hour train ride away but the new footie stadium is well worth it

EDIT: msotly ate free food at the hotel and BK at night. Had a very nice paella for 4 euros in some little local cafe, had some school girls (16 ish)giving us weird looks but nice enuff place.

I assume you mean eating out

You won't even get a meal for that in Eastern Europe, never mind a Spanish tourist resort!
