Anyone bought a £99 Opty 165 recently?

i got an opty 175 recently its a toledo core and is currently sat at 2.8ghz stock volts, and water cooled i know its not a 165 but the optys are all very similar and seem to be good clockers

i got one it was a wierd stepping starting with L a rebadged x2 i read says opteron 165 toledo in cpuz

not a great clocker on 2.6 just now considering poping the top as the temp sensors are very different but a bit nervous going to experiment a old 3500 newcastle first

Go for it. It's really easy. I did mine as soon as it arrived using a double sided razor blade. Just don't go in too far - it's really easy to cut the little gold bits off as they are really close to the edge.

LCB9E?

I'd be interested in what temperatures people are getting with their Overclocked 165's.

I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and it's sat at 2.8GHz 1.4V OCCT and Orthos stable, with the following temperatures:

Core 1/Core 2
Idle: 46/44
Load: 64/58

That's using a Scythe Ninja Plus with 1200rpm Scythe Fan. Is that about right?

Stepping: CCBBE 0610 DPMW

think so lost the pic i took but that rings a bell

my temps are crazy 60-70 load with orthos on both cores on 1.52 but my main temp is about 45-50 with a big typhoon think it might be bad ihs contact

Keep temps below 50-55 if possible.

Max load in coretemp is 38-42 on each core here. On water, so I've tightened the block so the cores have the same temperatures. If it's more equal in pressure, one core will be higher and one lower. I prefer having them both in the middle. That's at 3.06 with 1.525 :) 0615 EPMW

My 165 is stable at 2.81 with temps of 55 max at full load, under 30 when idle with artcic cooling freezer 64.

It's a 0615DMPW stepping.

One thing nobody seems to mention is that the Retail Opty Dual cores come with an excellent heatpipe heatsink. I was shocked at how good it was compared to the so called specialist heatsinks I have used in the past. It maybe one of the reasons they overclock much better than standard X2's.

LCB9E

2.5Ghz @ 1.30V
30c idle
48c load
Scythe Ninja - Passive

it's a nice compromise between silence and speed.
I've had good results with a 3700 at 1.30V too.

The heatsink looks the part a lot better than the one i got with my 146 allright for a small overclock

but for serious clocking when you have to give it more volts i would use something else

i had a artic pro at first i am now on a big typhoon still cant get it orthos stable at 2.8 bad ihs contact or my crap memory i suspect

take it that is not the seperate cores reading like in everest

just a core reading like you would get with a single processor

Used core temp. Core 2 seems to run abit hotter tho.

core 1 48 - 50
core 2 52 - 55

Under prime x2

Just got mine delivered..its a CCBWE 0633XPMW

Any ideas if thats any good?

Edit - after soom hunting around it seems like its rather poo stepping so think I will just send it back.
