Howdy,

My 360 is at MS for the second time at the moment and my mate's one has just died too. Now he plays his 360 all the time, whereas I don't play it too often, so he is missing his 360 quite a bit. He was talking bout getting a PS3 to tide him over, but I talked him outta that as theres no good games on it. He was then thinking bout buying a core 360 to use in the meantime.

I was wondering if anyone here has done this and bought two 360s? So whilst one is at MS, the other can be used in the meantime, if that one dies, chances are you have the other back and so on? Anyone done this? And was it worth it? Cos, let's be honest, they are not the best built machines in the world and I'm sure everyones will die at some point... right?

ta

Steve

Not much point in buying a PS3 if you have a 360 already since the exclusives out are not up to much scratch currently. (Unless he wants Blu-Ray)

Cant he buy a book or something to tie him over until the 360 gets fixed?

The length of time it's taking them to fix them he'd have to read War and Peace or the complete LOTR...

In all seriousness if my 360 broke and I was faced with 21+ days without it I'd be sorely tempted to go straight out and buy a new one moving the hard drive accross and when my old one came back just sell it as a less than one month old system (as new).

Seems like a good idea to me if you want constant gaming. Failure rates are high & i have used this to get a deal repairing them for my local game shop
This will mean repairing the consoles that are beyond warranty & are only fit for the bin. I suggest to anyone that is capable of building & tweaking systems to research the repairs & do as i am doing. Neither you or the owner of the unwarranted 360 has anything to lose.
Personally if i fix it i will gain 40 quid & the owner will have there 360 back the following day
Other places charge 70-80 quid & you have to post it off so a Local service is definitely needed.

Dead 360's needed for Praccy/experience/spares. Link to thread here

i have two 360's, and just sold my PS3 for a laptop exchange, only time i've turned the ps3 on in last month is for two firmware updates, and all the games i want this side of 2007 are on the 360. Will look into getting a PS3 again when its massively reduced in price to at least 360 premium pricepoint and has at least 6/7 AAA exclusive titles out that are not available on the 360.

If my 360 ever dies, and I have the spare cash lying about I'd just buy one from where I work. 28 day money back guarantee, should be long enough for MS to fix it.

I bought a new one. Mine was out of warranty, and beyond repair, so i bought the best value Core back i could find. Swapped the grey sides for the metallic silver ones from my premium, and swapped the DVD tray front (the eject is still cream because of the warranty sticker).

I wasn't willing to give up my current games collection, xbox live, and future titles; so i think it was worth it.

Yes I have two for that reason. I once was well into Motogp and had a couple of days to chill out by myself. 3 red lights. Never again.

Its an extreme measure but I will never be buying a MIcrosoft console again at launch. I stick with them now because Ive spent loads on my 360. Once bitten and all that.

Bit silly really, my original Xbox still works to this day and I've had it since 2002!

It's been modded, unmodded, then remodded ahaha. Still works perfect, it has a big hole in the case where the logo should be due to a mess up with replacing it. :D

I think McDaniel has 2 or maybe even 3?

I have bought 2 but that is cos my first chucked it after the warranty ran out, gits

My 15 month old 360 got the red rings so sent it off to get fixed, and bought another 360 for cheap in a console only deal with no leads, as obviously i had the leads from my original 360 to use.
So now got 2x360s

Yeah, thats possible for me as well.
Thankfully I do have alternatives. Stupidly I'd probably spend all 3 weeks on OcUk :/.

Where did you get this deal bruce? Was it an ebay thing? or from a online place?

Managed to get one working fully out of the drive from the broken (3 lights) one that I binned yesterday and my one that is a couple months old :) No more dirty disk errors and back on a Samsung drive which seem to be better at things.

Paid £60 inc postage for my second 360. thought that was a great deal as i already had all leads etc. worth it if ever i get another failure.
bought it from another forum, private sale.

Yes that was a bargain... was it a premium console? Or a core? Eitherway it was a good deal you got there!
