Thinking of getting one of these OEM extreme musics as it doesn't seem to make much sense getting a Fatal1ty for the Xram despite nonsense statements like these. (you'd wonder sometimes about these people).

"this card is a similar upgrade performance wise as from going from intel hd audio to xfi xtreme music, as from xfi xtreme music is to this"

Anyway, can anyone confirm if the oem extreme music that OcUK sell is a Dell, HP or some other sort. And does it come with a driver CD, and if the Creative auto update works. Reason I ask is a lot of people have got OEM's elsewhere and are getting the "no supported product found" type error as they can't find suitable drivers. The other question is whether the Flexijack will work with a microphone. Again this is a big problem with the HP oem card whose jack only works as line or digital out.

thanks.

Thanks for the info.
Out of curiosisty what do you think the reason is for better sound. Isn't the Fatal1ty Pro Champion just a rebadged Fatal1ty Pro Generation 1 card (the one that came with 5.25" bay) , but they called it the champion to differentiate from the new Fatal1ty Pro which has no bay. And that particular Fatal1ty is just an Extreme Music with Xram ?

Also you know the way creative took out the dolby digital support in the card beginning with oem ones in dell some years back (probably just a firmware change to force it to use a different p+P id) right up to the Fatal1ty Pro gen 2. But from what I understand these cards never did dolby digital in hardware anyway. It was just a software solution built into the drivers, and is only available on the first gen X-Fi's now. But the same dolby digital effect can be achieved with something like PowerDVD. Is this correct ?

thanks

Cool mate. Sounds like all that was missing from the OEM then was the fancy box anyway. Will be ordering this instead of a Fatal1ty. It's going into a Gigabyte DS3 965 mobo actually, Core2Quad 6600, 8800gtx etc.. gaming rig for the bro.

Was going to get the X-Fi extreme gamer which is more or less the same card as the extreme music (with less connectivity options on the back, lower profile and connector for front panel hd audio on the card itself), but I had one of these cards before and the digital out refuses to pass an spdif signal with the creative optical dongle in XP. Lots of complaints over on the creative forums about it. Extreme music works fine I am told.

I had an extreme music on my old DS3 and it worked fine, however i had problems with it on my current board with an 8800 series card. How much RAM will you have?

2gig Crucial Ballistix 6400 ram. Don't see the point in any more as am running XP Pro 32bit.
