As the title suggests. I've got a holiday booked in New York in November and I've always wanted to go to an NBA match. I had a look on the official site and although single tickets are available through ticketmaster, none are for the time that I'm over there.

However there are alternative sites, vividstreet, ticketmonster etc which do sell them (obviously marked up) but what I'm struggling with is a lot of them are e-tickets so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get them printed so i can get them redeemed before i travel. (not checked out hotel facilities in terms of getting anything printed yet)

Anyone else done this before travelling and how did you get on?

Cheers :)

Hi Derek. I had always wanted to go and watch an NBA game before too so went to see Orlando Magic vs New York Knicks at the Amway Arena. I did however get the tickets on Ticketmaster but this was also an e-Ticket so I just printed it off and brought it with me. They then simply scanned the barcode on the ticket and was straight in. Allow for plenty of time though as I underestimated how long time outs and quarter breaks actually are. Great atmosphere though, you'll love it!

Good luck!

Saw the Knicks at MSG a few years ago, i believe i purchased my tickets through Ticket Master, but the e-ticket/print at home was only available for US residents. The robbing ***** wanted to charge me an additional $4 just to pick them up from the ticket office.

Had no problems picking up from the ticket office, just needed some ID and the card i ordered them on, and away i went.

Was a great night!

The e-tickets that I've been looking at only 'arrive' while I'm over there so I'd need to find out if the hotel has any print facilities that guests can use. Hopefully I can get something sorted out though.

I would assume having it on your phone would be fine. Assuming you have an internet connection out there I would save it to your phone before you leave for the game.

I'll have wifi from the hotel so I should have it on my phone regardless. I'm sure I'll go past the ticket office beforehand to make sure i can get the paper copy as well.

Just ordered a ticket to the Knicks v Trailblazers and the confirmation says i wont get the ticket till 2 days before and the ticket office can't scan it off a phone! :( Looks like I'll be needing to find somewhere that prints off an email!

I've popped them an email to ask it they can. I'm well in advance so I'm sure i can ask them when I'm there if they don't respond beforehand.

Edit

Had word back this afternoon and it seems the hotel will be happy to print off my ticket :)

I used Stubhub, worked great, just print off the ticket before going. It's awesome, the barclays centre is imaculate. I thought maddison square garden looked a bit dated from the outside, but kind of wish I went to both, good excuse to go back.

For reference, with the tickets I've got they only get issued two days before the event so I'll be in america already but as posted above the hotel will be happy to get the ticket printed off for me :)
