Anyone considering emigrating?

We once over (around 2005) were close to going to Seattle but decided against it, really glad about that now.
If we were to now then probably Tuscany near Florence (favorite place I've been) somewhere, it's on a retirement list in 15 years. Been to Florence several times and it never fails to blow me away.

Happy with Cornwall and hate spiders so not Australia,if I had to pick maybe french or Spanish west coast still with a surf vibe ,but again I would choose here first

Switzerland, Channel Islands, Isle of Man maybe New Zealand would be nice too but too far really (unless some mach 5 passenger plane became available as I wouldn't want to be away from family for that long - friends who have moved to Australia etc.. don't come back annually but more like once every 3 years or so.)

Reasons; low crime rates, people tend to be happy in those places, easy access to the outdoors/lakes or sea, strong economies/good jobs etc..

Was actively looking at houses in France a few years ago. A bit sad we didn't follow it through.

I'm not considering it simply because of my age now and the fact our teenage kids have built a life here and still live with us. But I would have loved to move to somewhere in Europe; probably Spain, southern France or Italy.

Can't you leave them here with some kind of a setup? Our neighbors parents went to Portugal and they are there for any excuse.

Not yet but maybe in a few years because my son is still 15.

Then there is the question of, post Brexit, how could we actually move to Europe rather than just spend a few months a year there. My job could potentially be fully remote. It doesn't matter whether I am in the office, at home or in another country as my job 99% involves online work. But my wife is expected to go back to the office soon. So she would need to give up her job and find a new one. Perhaps not insurmountable but there are certainly challenges to overcome.

I emigrated to SW France in 2018. Apart from not being able to get a decent curry out in the wilds of rural France, I have zero regrets.

Returned to the U.K. for the first time a month ago to visit relatives and it only confirmed that I made the right decision to leave.

Yeah for sure. Definitely one I wish, if my parents were fortunate enough, to consider seriously.

If someone offered me a job in NZ I'd go in a heartbeat.

Kind of regret not properly pursuing it earlier. Doubt it will happen now.

Does leaving England for Wales count? :D

Probably America, I like girls with southern accents and houses measured in thousands of square feet. And I'd earn about double as a software dev. But I'd probably just get shot. First world problems.

I'd be in France tomorrow if I could but wife and kids make it more difficult although they're French nationals as well.

That said I've been head hunted for roles in NZ, again I'd go in heartbeat but my wife wants to be near her parents (which I totally understand).

It's not that I don't like it here, but I grew up in multiple countries and loved it, and want my kids to experience that. Even if only for a few years.. but I do get that it can be disruptive, but it's also an adventure.
