Hi,

I've been offered a very lucrative consulting contract in Saudi Arabia. Spoken to friends in my game and some have taken these contracts. Just curious as to whether anyone else has done this, how they found the experience and also how they managed to handle the tax status.

Cheers,

SoulJah

Hey man,

I've been trying to get a contract for ages but with no luck, i too am a consultant. From what i hear from friends that have is that the money is great but they work you like a dog for it. But then again if you walk away if enough cash it doesnt matter.... or thats what i think...

BTW what area are you a consultant in??

I specialise in MBS AX Dynamics..

I work as an Oracle Financials consultant. I've worked for the largest Insurance company in the world and managed disaster recovery after 9/11 when I knew about 50 people who died. The servers were kept on the 98th floor of the one that blew up.

The money is fantastic, however, I've heard that you end up in a compound and it would appear to be akin to being in prison, albeit with more luxuries and no possibility of spending any cash.

I guess it's all a bit of a toss up as to what's important. May be worth it for a year or two, that's what I'm considering.

Where in Saudi would you be going?

If you can get across to Bahrain on the weekends, you can get your "R&R" there. ;)

Personally I have ony ever been there once, but my brother worked there and that's what he used to do almost every weekend (short drive).

Bahrain is a popular place for the expats to go for a weekend if they want to have a beer. Maybe driving is a bit too far (but they do have fantastic roads there), or there's a cheap airline that can take you?

Try one of the British Expat forums on the internet for help/advice.
