Anyone Disappointed With X1900 Performance

Gibbo said:
Hi there

Can't say I am dissapointed with hitting 16k in 3D Mark 2005 and 10k in 3D Mark 2006 with a Crossfire setup. Certainly quick enough in my eyes and powerful enough to play games with everything on maximum detail on a 30" LCD Monitor at 2560x1600 resolution. :)

Were you smoking some Honduran cigars and quaffing a few bottles of Dom Pérignon while you played with all this kit??

Obviously working for overclockers.co.uk is becoming quite lucrative eh! ;)

I didn't realize the crossfire cards were so much more than the standard cards. That really sucks if you are looking to buy crossfire. Almost makes SLI seem like value for money! :p

How can SLi be considered value for money when to 512MB GTX cards will cost you approx £450 +VAT each and anything between £60 - £100+VAT for the motherboard and then its still slower with poorer image quality compared to an X1900 Crossfire setup which cost less. :)

the only thing i am dissapointed about is the delay of the RD580 mobos. I was going to build a system with the x1900 xt-x... i have 2 options now, buy a cheap mobo until the rd580 comes out or just wait.. and if i wait i might as well hang on to see what nvidias new toy is like.

as someone has said the performance beats the gtx 512 in most things and its cheaper ...i wouldnt call that a dissapointment! :D
.

Don't worry about it, the RD480 with ULi southbridge from people like Asus, Abit and MSI which OcUK stock are clearly fast enough and are 110% stable as can be seen from the results I have had. :)

My point was I was just really surprised that the crossfire master cards cost more. At least with ALI you don't need to fork out extra cash for a master card.

They cost more at the moment due to supply and demand, once their is plenty in the channel they should be approx £330 - £350 +VAT. :)

I received my xt1900xt-x today..
 First problem i come across is it don't support 1680X1050...

That's the standard 20" lcd res on all 20" LCDs i know off

I normally play all my games that are not fast enough at 1920x1200 at that res..

There's no 1680x1050 support on the back of the box as well...So am guessing you cannot use this card with any 20" widescreen LCD.

The X1900 XTX is substantially faster than the 7800 GTX 512 in FEAR and SC:CT, as well as BF2 and Black and White 2, depending on the benchmarks. We really just have to wait for more shader intensive games.

Shader intensive games is where it will shine, a pitty then that these games what appear until Vista + DX10 + limited DX9 compatibility.

one is a X1800XT the other X1900 XTX you can some diffrences on the card when layed side by side. can you crossfire a X1800xt with a X1900 XTX? or is that just a comparison picture?

so pleased with my X1900XTX mmm might crossfire when the new asus board with intel 975X chipset comes!
