Hi my daughter has just moved into a flat and has a phone point and line but according to the few providers i have phoned she needs to pay a reconection charge as the line was disconnected at the exchange.

Now i know BT do a free connection with an 18 month contract but do you know of anyone else, she is looking for phone & BB.

Thanks

Robert

Hi Rob
Even though in her case there may already be a bt line in the house, as they say they need to attach the line to the concentrator and DSLAM... This takes about 30 mins if you are slow at running jumpers...

However the engineers who work on the network (openreach) ALWAYS charge ISPS EVERY time a truck rolls or a frames tech moves a foot, they are an enginerring company after all

So in the case of most ISPs, they get the "full" installation cahrge... aka what someone would have had to pay when the wire from, the pole (or underground) was first put up/in.

Since these wires already exists it can be that this frames tech can only take 30 mins to get you on and a install charge is a bit ott, but they get billed £££ figures so that's why most LLU ISPS (02/post office/talktalk ect) have an install charge.

Limited time deals, sales offers and rewards are not included in what I have been stating

HI thanks for your reply, i understand that, but was just asking if anyone knew of any deals at the moment that included connection.

Thanks

Robert

Just a thought but has your daughter actually tried plugging in a phone and seeing if there is dial tone ? Or tried making an outbound call ?

I was told the same thing that I would need to be reconnected when I moved into a flat a few years ago now and I did have dial tone. This was by Plusnet. BT Engineer came and tested my socket and said it was connected up at my end then went to exchange (flat was opposite exchange) and he rang me back on my mobile and said it was all fine and connected. Later that day Plusnet informed me the internet was connected. I didnt get charged any fee for connection.

If she would consider going with sky for phone and broadband (providing llu is avalible)) they fit new lines or reconnect in your case for 10 quid there lime rental is 12.25 for evening and weekends but she would be limited to just sky broadband
