As title. Obviously, it's a 2 star restaurant so it'll be awesome but wondering if anyone has a more personal review. Or, even if you've just stayed at the hotel that would be good to know.

Thanks for that, haven't seen that blog before. It seems to be awfully traditional, as I had thought. I'm trying to decide on which starred restaurant to treat myself to (being a poor student albeit one who loves food, I'm not a regular at such haunts - and the fact that there aren't any in Glasgow is troublesome). I don't think it'll be Andrew though, bit too traditional for my tastes. 21212 or The Kitchin are the front runners at the moment.

I always think their posts are worth a read, fair amount of hate for them around though, here is their entire Edinburgh collection. 21212 and The Kitchin are reviewed (amongst others)

Its always worth a look at Urbanspoon's page's, their blogger aggregation is good as you can see new openings and get a good idea of where is worth going to across a city. Much better than more traditional restaurant review sites (square meal, top table, time out etc.) though take what you read with a pinch of salt, sometimes it can be all hype...

Yea, I've read some stuff on Urbanspoon in the past but not paid it that much attention. I know where I want to eat in Glasgow so haven't really had to research much as I only eat in my own city.

The Critical Couple have glowing praise for The Kitchin, though I dread to think what my girlfriend would do to me she knew I was taking her to eat "rolled pigs head with crispy pigs ear". She totally freaked when I served her fish with the head and tail still on a few weeks into our relationship!

I think I'll try and make reservations for The Kitchin, it's easy to get to (Gleneagles would prove troublesome as I don't want to drive) and seems good value. How far ahead would people advise making reservations?
