Anyone else 360 scratch their discs?

Keogh - Did you make any headway getting the game replaced yet?

Actually not tried now thedean, simply cos my disc works now. But if it does screw up and don't work anymore cos of them I will get another one, and I wont stop until I do I assure you that!

But at the mo its all ok, as I am using a friend s360 atm, and it works fine on there, hopefully my replaced 360 will not scratch my disc :)

There seem to be a lot of people getting DRE's and scratching on Forza 2, just like GOW. Perhaps MS are also manufacturing dodgy discs aswell as manufacturing dodgy consoles, it's about time a dodgy foot got kicked up Mr Gates dodgy arse.

Edit... as regards to the disc replacement program. They charged me £10 plus another £2.24 from somewhere, plus my cost to send it RD all in all it cost me nearly £15 for a fault caused by their dodgy in garauntee console.

Yes, several of my discs now have scratches.

What next? XBOX360's frying USB devices? It feels like one thing after another... And I haven't even had my console a month…

Well, my 360 is having problems keeping the DVD spinning, I am worried that the next step is it will scratch my discs :(

Scort.

Got my 360 back today (15 days total for repair) and they've changed the motherboard and not the DVD drive  I'm not surprise about the motherboard since my 360 was developing a weird green dot in PGR3/Forza 2 after being on a while, and that looks to be fixed now, but I'm obviously annoyed that they haven't replaced the DVD drive.

So if I put Forza 2/Gears in again they'll just get scratched up some more. Gonna take Forza 2 back to blockbuster and see if they'll change the disc. If they do I think I'll limit myself to playing just an hour at a time on Forza 2 since I'm convinced the build up of heat is warping the disc and making it hit the drive laser head thingy, causing the scratch.

Well I hope they dont do that for me? They only replaced my motherboard a month ago, I dont want it replaced again otherwise I will be annoyed!

UPS tracking tells me that MS got my console last Monday, yet I have still got no emails back from MS yet? Ive emailed them to ask, as I was on hold on the phone for 30mins and just couldn't be arsed anymore :)

If they have lost my 360, I want an elite sent to me :D

I never got an e-mail from them, apart from the shipping label of course. Nothing to say the 360 had been received or sent. They did include a 1 month gold card btw.

Mine is horizontal.

Did it look like this, the light green spot under the yellow bar?

Really? First time I sent it back I got an email back when they where looking at it... that was about 5 days after I had sent it. Then I was expecting another email to tell me they had sent it, but just got a knock at the door instead, it was UPS.

So I am assuming I will get the same this time? Maybe not? Maybe I will just get it sent back to me? I will wait and see

Yeah, that looks like the same dot but mine was on the left hand side of the screen. I presume that's why they changed my motherboard. Haven't absolutely confirmed the dot is gone yet since I only just got the 360 back.

The dot would sometimes show up just after ten minutes, and after a few hours it usually got worse, one big dot and several little ones all clustered together. I reckon it's a faulty or overheating GPU or ram. Occasionally in the loading menus in PGR3 the dot would jump to the right hand side of the screen.

Yep, no contact since the shipping label. Was well surprised when the 360 turned up today.

It's examples like this that make me happy I play copies :) . Why pay £40 for an original only for it to be scratched?

Yep that picture was taken on my first 360, not long after that it died. It was always there no matter what game and like you would be gone til the 360 warmed up.

Well I remember I sent mine off not too long after you sent yours off, so might get mine back in a few days...

I bought a 360 last October and have had problems with it lately.

- When playing DVDs it plays for a while until it starts skipping, and then it freezes and has to be reset.

- I get disc read errors on games, it's really intermittent though. The drive spins down a lot on games such as GOW, GRAW2 and worst of all is Oblivion, which is totally unplayable now, I can't even load it up.

- I get the disc scratching thing with a perfect ring around the very top of the disc.

I would take it back to the high street competitor I bought it from, but I can't find my receipt... I'm so mad at myself... they warned me to keep it safe and I've torn my house to pieces and can't find the thing.

Can I call up MS and send it to them... without a receipt also?
Anyideas what I should say to see if I can get it looked at? As I'm not getting red rings or error codes... just disc read errors.

Cheers.

Did you register your xbox with MS? If so all they want is your console serial number when you ring, and they will have your warranty date on their system.

When its under warranty, if you feel there is a problem with it you can send it back no probs. I mean mine has been back twice, the first time was red rings and crashes, and I could even boot the thing up so it had to go back. But this time, it scratched my forza disc, but it works perfectly well, I just wanted it to go back.

just phone them, and explain what u explained here and they will ask you to send it to them.. do it before your warranty ends thou, otherwise you WILL regret it, cos its not cheap outta warranty!

I don't believe MS accept it without a proof of purchase. Would you not be able to use a credit card statement to prove purchase from the retailer? It may be worth contacting them to find out.

If all else fails give us an e-mail.
