Anyone else bored with gaming?

Been feeling like it for years so now I spend more money buying the best hardware and more money buying games I hope I'll like in hope to find something I love.

Im thinking about putting off my planned GPU upgrade this year due to lack of games that really push the hardware

got a HD6870 now thinking of getting maybe a GTX660 for when GTA V comes out (the only game I really looking forward to so far this year... and maybe BF4 BUT might not get this because of EA, Origin, DLC prices

Get a 670 GTX OC edition. Best card I have ever owned. It's on the 680 board and is whisper silent alllllll the time.

I would never say I've been bored of gaming but i do struggle for time to game and the spare time i do have i now struggle to justify spending it gaming. I'm really torn between keeping my gaming rig or chopping it in for an ultrabook and getting a ps4 for the odd occasion i do game. I cant justify keep dropping money upgrading computers every couple of years plus i may not have space soon to keep my pc. What to do? A gaming htpc has no appeal, i may as well just get the ps4.

What are your current specs?
My PC has 1 1/2 year old hardware and is already out preforms the PS4's supposed specs.

Well I'm running a phenom 2 x4 @3.6 with 12gb RAM and a 560ti 448 OC. So lagging a tad on the cpu front but that's because I upgrade my gpus every couple years but cpus every 3-4. I'm at that point where I'm contemplating jumping to haswell but I am wondering should I bother? the PS4 is probably as powerful as my machine plus lets me get back into fifa etc again as all my mates are console people. I think the deciding factor is going to be what happens to my personal situation in the next 6 months and whether I have the space to keep one (I'm moving again). Financially both will cost me money as ps4s and ultrabooks arent cheap but dropping money on a pc every couple years soon becomes expensive too. So atm I'm trying to work my way though my back catalogue of games but by god skyrim is a bit of a time sink, 40 hours put in and I think I've only seen like 40% of the game. RTW2 has also left me in a predicament as that wont be available for console and I love the TW series. Decisions..... I suppose I could go for all three but that's a tad expensive.

I went through a period earlier this year where I was convinced I've owned my last gaming PC, game consoles and even played my last game in WoW. I felt like I've lost all imagination and my new girlfriend was, well, is quite anti gaming. Made it easier to 'quit'. Was making space on my HD a couple of months ago when I started looking at deleting games in my Steam/Origin libraries. I wasn't playing them anyway. Saw ME2 still installed. Thought I'd give it a quick go for a few minutes as I bought it and never played it. Seven hours later I snapped out of the most happy gaming experiences of my life. I had the headphones on, the real world was completely cut out and I lived in the Mass Effect world. It may sound silly, but it was really a rediscovery for me. I completed it the same day. Had a look at what others games I missed and fired up Metro 2033. I'm enjoying it just as much. I even fell in love with TF2 again.

In short, you go through phases. I'm at the 'very advanced' age of 32 and was starting to think I lost all wonder and imagination when it comes to game worlds. Like it was only meant for teenagers and people in their 20's with imagination and love for the unknown virtual worlds. As if age took that away from you. It only took the right game to rekindle that romance once more.

Have you been gaming too much (says the guy who was up 'til after 8am playing Shogun 2 one night last week!)? I can't imagine getting bored of it, I look forward to it so much. But there is such as thing as too much of a good thing, it spoils it. Take a break and come back and appreciate it.

My main issue is that I get bored and end up not finishing games, and because I now have a huge list of games I've never finished, it actually puts me off playing anything at all. I go through phases where I am determined to finish things (current game is Bioshock Infinite), but not long after (maybe a week or two), things tail off again and I start feeling the guilt again.

I know i might get flamed for this but one thing i always used to look forward to were games that were pushing the boundary with graphics/physics and immersion. Far Cry, F.E.A.R., Half Life 2,Crysis e.t.c. All games that made your eyes pop when you first saw your PC rendering them in real time.

Unfortunately the popularity of console gaming and the longevity of each console generation is ruining this and i can't remember the last time i was really "wowed" by a games graphics.

I am looking forward to the new consoles coming out, simply because we might get some new looking graphics.

Also, on the same subject, what have Activation been doing for the last few years, it doesn't look like they even bothered to update the graphics for Company of Heroes and that is a PC exclusive!

I have times like this, am in one at the minute but always seem to find just that 1 game that keeps me amused :)

TF2 again at the minute haha

I am quite bored of it, it don't help by the fact graphics card prices now are by far the most expensive component to buy and I see no reason to blow £600 to keep up, once this 480 is no good for 1920x1080 I will give up gaming all together

Are there any games similar to these:

- batman AA and AC
- the last of us (haven't actually played this but watched videos on youtube and it looks to be my sort of game, reminded me of tomb raider a lot!)
- tomb raider (newest one)

Well, Sleeping Dogs has a similar fighting system to Batman in my opinion. Or of course you could wait until October when Batman Arkham Origins is out, I'm really looking forward to that.

Used to hammer gaming everyday every hour but I have been very busy and recently lost touch with gaming. I need to get back into it because I know how much I enjoy it. I think a bit part is when COD4 competitive died.
