So I was a huge fan of Generals and have fond memories of that game and given Act of Aggression has been touted as "what Generals 2 should have been" by numerous people (rightly or wrongly so), I was really quite excited to try it out. Here's the thing though... I think it totally stinks on pretty much every level.
The graphics are nothing special whatsoever, especially for a 2015 release, which is actually surprising because what I saw before playing looked very good. In game seems another matter though.
The overall feel to me is very dull. You don't have that connection there was with Generals. The units are plain, the buildings all look the same and dare I even mention the camera zoom... It's completely ridiculous how far that thing goes in (that's what she said
).
The matches I played all just followed the same pattern... People grabbed each others oil reserves and did the whole bunker down tactic in the hundreds of vacant buildings until one guy nuked the other. It seems like the game is stuck between not being a highly strategic RTS and not being an easy pick up play one either.
Anyway just my thoughts. Interested in what others think. I'm sure everyone will love it and call it the revive RTS needed. However I'm just not feeling it on any level. Shame as I really did want a game like this to play through the cold winter nights
