Anyone else find Dropbox upload slow?

As title really.
Using Virgin 50mb so have 5mb uploadmwhich is fine on flickr etc.
Trying to upload a load of stuff to Dropbox and it is maxing at 500kb/sec.
Have set upload bandwidth to unlimited.

Is this normal?
If so any other cloud services that are faster?

5MB is roughly 500kb/sec, or do you think you should be getting slightly more? I get around 120 kb/sec with a 1MB upload.

You need to remember that the Mb is MegaBITS not bytes. So like Nismo said it's pretty close. 500 kilobytes, is roughly 3.9 Megabits, so I'd say it was still pretty damn good. Also, I'm getting roughly the same upload speed on Dropbox, and I'm also on Virgin 50Mb

Good point, although I though the upload was reading in kilobits too, but I may be wrong.
I get confused which kb Kb etc to use for bits and bytes so I may have written that bit wrong. lol

I'll check later and see what it was uploading in.

edit, easier way, if It IS running at 500kilobytes upload, how long do you reckon for 25 gigabytes to upload?!

1024 x 5 (1mb times 5)

Then divide that by 8

That's what your theoretical maximum speed is

so 640kb/s upload

I get around 350-370 KB/s on my Virgin 30 Mb/s.
