The other day, I paid for a film in HD, downloaded it as my net was messing around so thought I would leave it to download. me and my partner fell asleep so didn't get to watch it. Next day, we went to watch it (March of the penguins... that was the film) and it had expired... I wasted all my MS points on nothing.

It was a total ripoff, first and last time I will ever buy anything from Zune again.

Anyone else feel the same?

I went to the cinema to watch a film, but I fell asleep during the trailers. When I woke up, the film had finished and they wouldn't let me watch a different screening. It was a total ripoff, first and last time I will ever go to the cinema again.

;)

Not been impressed with the service myself. I'd rather pay for a copy of the film, or for a subscription service so that I don't have to worry about watching a film within 24hours; my missus has a habit of falling asleep halfway through, and then she can't watch the ending later. Its a real shame that the Netflix streaming services isn't available in the UK.

I hired a film from blockbusters, but I fell asleep during the trailers. When I woke up, the film had finished. But since this business model had already existed for years I was able to watch the film before returning it. Welcome to the 1980s.

Not saying your arguement is invalid, but expectations of how you can watch a film at home changed drastically thanks to video, and people understandably get miffed if the model is changed for no other reason than to make a couple of extra $. It wrecks the model, which admittely is probably what the copyright holders, for whatever reason, desire.

If you hired a film from Blockbuster on a one night rental, would you complain if you failed to watch it before it was time to return it?

They need to consider problems with downloading like interruptions or a connection being too slow to finish in time, it should really be set so you can view for a few days or a limited number of views, it really doesn't affect their profits doing it this way and may in fact improve them if the service is that restricted, the way things are run though is so pathetic you can't expect much logic or reason from them.

I agree they should have the 1 day limit start when the film is actually first played and maybe 7 day expiration when the film is bought but not watched.

well itunes gives you 1 month to watch a film once its downloaded .. 24 hours to watch it once you start.
not tried the zune service , but did a browes .. did you try streaming or actual download ? seems harsh compared to itunes .. unless you started to watch

Was looking at this last night.

Streaming you star watching immediately with 24 hours to complete

Download it's available for 14 days OR 24 hours after you start watching.

Nothing hard to understand tbh.

I fail to see how the OP got it so wrong based on that.
