Anyone else get random friend status updates from the Facebook app?

It's only started happening recently. I get a notification in the dropdown menu saying "x has posted a link" or "y has updated their status". Has an update caused this? It's really annoying because none of the updates relate to me in any way e.g. I'm not tagged, haven't commented...

Are these people in your 'Close Friends' group on FB? If they are then you'll get notifications every time they post.

Yeah I do all of a sudden, and they're old status updates as well.

Yup, and me - it's an absolute PITA. There's a setting somewhere to turn them off, but it's ridiculous that you should have to.

Yep but only the odd one or two, if it was supposed to happen I'd expect it to happen every time they post a status.

I think it's the ones which get a lot of interaction or likes. Unfortunately for me my cousin has just had a kid, so every update of "Oooh, my baby's so cute" gets a hundred other women telling her how lucky she is.

Not for me. I get the notifications as soon as they're posted. Really boring random updates too

I only get one if a close friend/family posts something. Which is fine.
