Anyone else getting bad DL speeds on steam today?

Im currently trying to download L4D2 but can only get around 90-150KB/s?? I normaly get around 1.4-1.6 MB/s.

Is this due to heavy traffic caused by the sales?
My connection seems fine.

Yes, Steam downloads have been attrocious for the last couple of weeks, probably entirely due to the sales.

Give it a few days, and it'll return to normal speeds.

You can try selecting a different download location in the Settings, it may help you, it may not.

try setting your location to the land of canaboids and clogs, seems to hold up a bit better than uk servers

I got bad download speeds yesterday for L4D2, had to wait the entire night.

Yeah I've had bad speeds. Killing floor was like 200kbs and Stalker was running at 17kbs.

Think its just the high demand due to sales. Things will be back to normal soon.

Ukraine is a good one to set your region too. That setting only controls where you download from so pick some third world country and you should get some decent speeds.

Well it has improved a touch its now up to 400KB/s still not great but better I suppose

I think it also affects matchmaking in L4D too, trying to find locations nearer to where you set it on steam. In other words change it back before you play.
