Anyone else getting both?

So, bit of a VR evangelist...

Have both the Rift DK1 and DK2 and now I've got pre-orders for consumer versions of both the Rift and HTC Vive (both places minutes after the pre-orders opened)

In my mind the reason I'm buying the Rift is because... hell, I want it.

While I think both are fantastic I honestly think the HTC Vive is the better implementation though. The included front facing camera combined with the passive Lighthouse base stations/tracking system (which technically could give you a simple backpack mounted VR solution) seems like a better idea to me.

The lack of camera on the Rift means that (in my mind) the headset becomes obsolete quicker.

The Rift not coming with the touch controllers is a moot point in my opinion due to the fact that it IS coming eventually.

Oh... and I've got two GTX980 equipped PC's to play them with and an empty 4m x 4m room to set it up in.

I realise not everyone has the same opportunities as me, but anyone else stupid enough to forgo eating for a month in order to fund their addictions? What's the excuses you've told yourself to justify it? :)

EDIT: Oh, I have a PS4, but I'm not sure I'm insane enough to buy the PSVR as well. The exclusives don't interest me much as it is and specs match that of the DK2, which I've had since release.

I have the space for a Vive in the front room but don't want to move my main PC there. Also I worry about the cables when moving around.

I'll get both but my both is Oculus Rift and PSVR

I must admit, I came close to pulling the trigger on a Vive, but couldn't bring myself to do it.

Like yourself I have a DK1 & 2, and am also a KS backer, so I get my free Rift when it launches. Strangely, rather than thinking "I'll put the money I had saved for my Rift" (before finding out about the KS freebie) towards a Vive, I found myself in the position of "do I really want to spend over £700 on something that's similar to what I'm getting for nothing?".

Also, as much as I really want to try out a proper room-scale experience, the limiting factor for me literally is room space. I've got a clear 2x2m space max. If I stand in the middle of that and put my arm out like I'm holding a gun, before I've finished one step forward I've punched the wall, so realistically it's seated and standing experiences (not full move around roomscale) for me.

I must admit that I got in straight away with a PSVR order though. I tend to gravitate between my PC and console these days, and there are a few games coming to PSVR I wouldn't mind checking out. £349 vs £700 in that regard is easier for me to justify to myself .

I'm getting both, as my main PC space is not suitable for room scale VR, a bedroom is getting semi-converted for that purpose, so I'll just have to bring down my case, I'll have a spare monitor, keyboard & mouse kept in the bedroom so I don't drag everything.

I'll be keeping the Rift set up in my home office space where I have more traditional gaming peripherals likes steering wheel, HOTAS joysticks etc.

I had preorders for both, but I cancelled my Rift order a couple of weeks ago.

The more I think about it, the more virtual reality without room scale and proper tracked controllers doesnt interest me. With the Rift I get the impression I'd be playing more or less exactly the same games as I do now with a twist, whereas the Vive actually looks like a completely different experience

I've ordered the Rift and PSVR for now with a view to get the Samsung and Vive at a later time. I'm diving deep into developing for VR so have convinced my partner that we must have them all

Considering Vive to go with PSVR, though sensible hat might make me wait for foveated rendering/eye tracking. Honestly OR just isnt even a consideration for me, just made way too many poor decisions that I wouldnt want to back...

ps3ud0

I was slow ordering a Rift so the Vive will arrive first. If I hadn't been slow on the Rift I wouldn't have bothered with the Vive and just stuck with the more seated experience.

However the more I thought about it I realised I was only using the single bed in my spare room/office as a build bench (with an old table top on it!) so what the heck. I dismantled the bed, stored it in the loft and used the opportunity to re-decorate the now VR room with some more suitable flooring, lighting and decor.

Was originally planning on getting both Vive and Rift, but recently cancelled my Rift pre-order. The recent marketing and talk of exclusives has put me right off of the company. Might look at the PSVR after it is launched :)

Ordered the Vive and will be getting the PS VR as well

Will not entertain the oculus, as nothing has convinced me over the past 3/4 years that it is anything other than vaopurware
