"If youre over 18 and spending £15+ a month on credit. ORANGE can now offer you FREE TALKTIME + FREE TEXT on their latest promotion. Reply "YES" to find out more."

This wouldn't be orange would it? I really dont wish to be sent advertising and I think they are making themselves out to be orange which surely isn't right? I have the number which it originated from and its not orange's typical 07973 100xxx or 150 or whatever.

Is there anyway to stop this because I don't want silly text message adverts to my phone

If you reveal the phone number (or part of it) someone here might be able to check it for you.

You could ignore it which is what I usually do.

You could phone Orange and ask them.

that may be just so that its free for you to call as its an orange owned number.

post the number up.

Its junk mail. Delete it. And expect more! SMS marketing is going to be really big. Its the cheapest form of direct advertising by far (~3p/sms) and almost everyone that get one delivered to their phone will read the message.

It's almost definitely junk.

I got one amazing one today claiming to be from orange. It offered me UNLIMITED minutes, and UNLIMITED texts. Sounds lovely. Made it slightly less believeable though.

As has been previously said, it's probably junk, or a 3rd party dealer blanket texting lots of people (had it myself today, would like to see them try and apply the product they were offering to my phone)
