Anyone else had problems with the C2D (E2140) heatsink fasteners?

Hi. Completed my new build last week and all seems well but one thing that didn't go to plan was the C2D Heatsink fasteners that connect to the four holes in the motherboard. Three of the connectors seem to be snug inside the holes but the fourth one doesn't seem so secure even though it appears to be in (plastic bit is slightly loose). I tried pushing as hard as I dared but it wouldn't fasten like the others, so I just left it.

I've been keeping my eye on the temps and the fan, all seems good so far. Is there a certain knack to it as I might re-fasten the heatsink with some Arctic Silver 5?

Thanks.

Make sure you fasten them down in the correct way. Dont go round fastening them in a circle otherwise the last one wont go in all the way.

example, if you fasten down the top right first, do the bottom left next ;)

Which method did you use?

a) Had the pegs rotated anti-clockwise before installation then pushed them in the holes and locked them in place by turning the pegs clockwise

b) Had the pegs rotated clockwise before installation then pushed them in the holes until you heard a firm clicking sound?

I forgot you needed to counter weight it so to speak. Yeah ones not in properly as it was the last one I did in a circle motion :o . woops. Seems to be cooling the CPU fine though.

Will reseat this weekend.

Cheers.

Do it the way I said, and all 4 should go fully in place. ;)
