Anyone else have this problem?

Basically:

1. I turn on my computer, but nothing is displayed on the monitor, the motherboard doesn't load the BIOS

2. I then switch the computer off then back on again

3. The motherboard loads the Asus bios as normal but I get the "overclocking failed" screen, it tells me to press F1 so I do that

4. It takes me to the BIOS where I go into AI tweak and check the overclock settings are still there, I then hit "save changes and reset"

5. The computer restarts and loads Windows like normal

This happens EVERY single time..at first I thought it was normal with the new motherboards (I have an Asus P8P67) but it's annoying me now.

I've also had a few blue screens as of late and was wondering if that's got to do with this.

So does anyone know why this is happening and can help me fix this problem?

Cheers

Updating the BIOS to version 1024 seems to have fixed the problem! Bit weird considering it's not the latest version. I no longer get the overclocking failed error. I just hope I don't have to keep switching it on twice to get it to boot.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Have very similar symptoms with my new build P8P67 powwering down after starting, only to power up again without me pressing start button. Like you I then have to go through f1 routine and cmos reset just to get to desktop. Done more than 20 builds in my time and normally with Asus boards but this board takes the biscuit.

Can't seem to be able to flash the bios to 1204 either as nothing registers on my USB stick when I go into EZ Flash. Dead wierd as I know the bios revision is on the stick under a compressed file!!!!

All a bit of a shame this as this was likely my swan song build (included water cooling for first time!) and boy have I picked a really dud board to head off into build retirement!

You need to unzip/decompress it.:p

I would also add I don't seem to have a programme to decompress / unzip this download. Why is something so apparently easy proving so difficult? Does anyone know how to decompress / unzip bios files when there are bno such options avaialble within the download?

If you're using Windows 7, just double click the file and it will unpack itself or you can download and install Winrar, right click on the zipped file and click "Extract here". Put the extracted file in the USB pen, restart your system and enter the bios. Look for "Tools" and then "EZ Flash". Locate and point the updater to the USB pen and voilà.:D

I'm using Win 7 but when I try to run it, it asks for a suitable programme to run it from, ie notepad etc!!! I'll download winrar and give that a whirl - thanks

Accepted but that doesn't get away from the fact that this board is total ****E and should never have hit the market place in this state! :(

+1.

This has been an exceptionally popular motherboard. Far more popular than its competitors. In my opinion Asus failed to properly test this motherboard prior to release. Many people are having issues with the p8p67. I suspect, though can't verify, the proportion of boards with problems exceed the relative higher sales volume.

I just hope they offer a more reliable board when they get round to recalling this first revision.

Is the consensus that there will be a full recall in the near future? I assume that would be down to the Intel HDD problem?

I'm not sure if Asus has issued a UK recall statement but as far as I am aware all manufacturers, not just Asus, using the flawed intel chipset will be doing so when replacements are available. I don't know what the latest announcement is.

In my opinion stated previously, I was referring to problems other than the chipset flaw. Just my 2p worth though.
