Hi all. Before i get to the point of the thread i'd like you to know my system specs to avoid confusion later in the thread.

Intel Core i7 3770
MSI GTX 980 4GB OC Edition
16GB 1600 RAM
Windows 10 Build 10240
Corsair CX 750 PSU
Crucial MX100 SSD
I play all games in 1920x1080p resolution using Vsync

Does anyone else suffer ridiculous FPS drop in GTA V? I've tried almost every combination of graphical settings even 800x600 to no avail, i get it no matter what settings i choose.

In an experiment i used MSI Afterburner for the OSD statistics in which i wanted to check the following, CPU &, GPU &, FPS and RAM usage in an attempt to possibly find a bottleneck, the result was no bottleneck was found, the maximum GPU % hit 84%, the max CPU & was 51% and the highes amount of ram i recorded was 7418MB.

So what does this mean? un-optimized areas in the game where it drops below 60FPS? Is this something im just going to have to put up with? I'm not sure.

Then i see people using specs below my current specs and claim they have maxed most settings and get between 70-150FPS, so why can't i maintain 60FPS if they can get them sort of frames using higher settings than mine?

Really annoying that my £400+ card can't run GTA V at an optimal (i don't expect ultra throughout, even normal would be fine) level without dropping below 60FPS.

Here's a screenshot i took earlier;

I hope anyone can help me in my quest, share your own FPS or give me your stories about your graphical difficulties with GTA V.

Thanks for reading (this relatively long post) :D

Try changing the mouse input setting (windows, directinput, etc.) - some people have reported they get stuttering in some areas with one setting but not with another.

I use an xbox one pad (should have said in my opening post really) so that won't affect it, or would it?

Last couple patches have added stutter to the game. Reports all over the forums. Most recent patch was ment to fix this but still people reporting stuttering.

You have vsync on im guessing, thats why its showing 62% usage there, if you go back to the same spot and turn off vsync i bet you get 100+ FPS and 99% GPU usage. When explosions and crashes and stuff happen in game it uses a lot more GPU power, i found if i turn vsync off i get 120+ fps in some areas but when a lot of stuff is going on it can still drop down into the low 50s, you have to drop the settings until you find the right balance so that the fps drops never drop to low and your not wasting GPU power the rest of the time.

As for the stuttering a lot of people having problems with that, ive not seen it my self, but i dont think theres been a solid solution for it yet. Lots of people have found their own solution for it that hasnt worked for others. Hopefully people will leave you a list of fixes that worked for them so you could try a few.
