anyone else having problems with steam?

Hi guys

just redone windows install all the updates, secuirty fully updated and what not installed steam....errr won't update just says can't conect to network.

my secuirty is kerspersky 2011 and comodo internet secuirty without the DNS option ( I hope) nethoir is blocking it both says its trusted.

it does 2 sweeps up to 26% goes back to 0 than comes up with connection error....

is that me or them, its been like it for a few days now. I ve deleted/moved the .blob file still didn't do anything.

Tried disabling Comodo and seeing if that fixes it? It's probably blocking a port Steam uses. Steam updated fine for me a few days ago.

I tried doing that, and just now as I read your post, still same problem, treid changing comodos firewall and it still won't update -.- everything else is working fine, xfire, internet connectiviy is fine also.

Mine's OK.

I think they'll do another end of the year sale. It started on the 23rd last year.

Have you tried turning all of the internet security off and seeing if it'll connect then?

They didn't have a weekend deal this week just kept the Mafia 2 one from Wednesday.

indeed i have, and tried changing its settings, still didn't do nothing, can't see anything on the net ( sept for old threads) regarding comodo in that way *checks again*

treid repiaring with a new download file and still didn't work, uninstalled restarted and reinstalled ( with new downlaod file) still no go :mad:

So either it's your isp being arsey or you could have slipped when entering your login details and ended up with a number instead of a symbol or capital when it should be lower case. When I reinstall steam I end up going through three different passwords before it logs me in .

No problems here with Steam itself but Black Ops is clearly broken.

I ll tell you when I get that far, its updating I m still on version 1.0 here and steam will try and update, but it can't/won't for some reason, i dunno if its steam servers or myself..

I am on a fresh instal of windows fully updated ( win 7 64bit) internet is working fine no proxy or that dns thing comodo do. as I made sure of it. still can't get it working... oddly been like it since yesterday since I had work ( I work over nights at weekend I didn't have time to try it again)

I ll try and reset the hub, see if that helps, as I said, everything appers fine its just steam -.-

*EDIT* I seem to have found the issue, it was kerpersky 2011 i had monitor all ports activiated which seemed to annoy steam

Glad you found the problem. Can't understand why compared to other programs Steam is so badly messed up by ports being monitored though.....

Perhaps you could post in the official forums as it might help others with the same problem.
