Last 4 evenings in a row my connection has been up and down like a yoyo, online gaming is impossible as I lag out and get "Connection interrupted" all the time.

Usually my connection is solid. I'd go to ADSL but that was rubbish last time I tried it.
 
No problems on 10Mb in Sheffield. Think it's part of the old blueyonder network and we always seem to be immune to the problems that the old NTL etc areas get.
 
Where do I start.

Had problems since day one had the 20 meg service for 3 months now and have never seen anywhere over 17mb sec.

The times I have got anywhere over 12 meg have been 2am to 7 am.

It's got much worse recently am lucky to get 2mb 4pm - 2 am.

Am downgrading it to 10mb or even 4mb as 20 mb cannot be reliably supplied from my particular area the croydon UBR must be at 190% load to get these joke speeds.

It all comes down to the area in which you live and the UBR you are on, they think nothing of overloading ubrs.

I am amazed they keep their customers the newsgroup is full of people with poor speeds.

For me the real problem though is that so many customers are ignorant so that means they can overload UBRS and only have a few clued up people complain.

Most customers don't even know how to test their speed let alone complain.

Just had a strange problem a few hours ago. No access to anything yet all the correct lights were on my modem. Rebooted it and now everything is fine. :confused:
 
i've moved my modem/router into the loft because i simply never have any problems with it and i think i've had it 8 years now.

I live in a ntl area and my speeds be solid for the 16 months i been with them, the nets never even been down here fantastic service, i get 20meg all the time apart from the stm.
 
It has been a disaster for me in the 3mths I've had it. Monday night, no TV or internet, "problem in the area" . Came back next morning but then down again for 4 hrs yesterday. Over Xmas, phone, internet and TV all went down for about 15 mins. I get some sort of problem every other week. Ridiculous. Certainly if it goes on like this I'll be ditching them for Sky at the end of the 12 mths. Only good thing is that 10MB really is 10MB and never less (well 9.8 is near enough) but I'd rather have a slower more reliable service any day. Fingers crossed they have just been having a bad run in my area.
 
In my flat previously with Sky for 2 yrs, I NEVER lost the TV, never lost the phone, and I may have lost the internet maybe 2 or 3 times for brief periods.

The cable is a single point of failure, and I'm not sure now it was the right thing to do to get the complete package. TV over satellite is far more reliable, a BT phone line is more reliable, only the internet is an advantage on cable as it doesn't matter how far away from the exchange you are. But if it isn't reliable, its useless.
 
I'm having another day of unusable service from VM, its been going on and off for half the day, more off than on too, all I get is a few seconds burst of traffic then it goes somewhere between nothing and rubbish dial-up.

I can't wait till my O2 gets activated on Wednesday.
 
yes I've been OK this week too, thankfully.
Last time my TV and braodband went down (for 4 hrs as it turned out) I phoned up, and the support person told me, well it has been very cold, lots of rain, and windy after all ! I thought I was listening to a train driver :D Supposedly that can affect their equipment, so that means I'm at risk oh about 9 mths of the year.... :eek: She did go on to say sometimes the equipment is vandalised as well
 
It seems to have sorted itself out again for now. At least I can game tonight.

Something is going on as my connection has been ***p today, cant get anywhere near my normal bandwidth, and the connection keeps dropping..

Jeese! I thought it was just me.. Really weird as my connection just keeps timing out.. really annoying to be honest
