Anyone else in the process of giving up smoking?

So last night I had my last smoke. I'm not that heavy a smoker, probably 20 - 25 a day but this is the longest time I have gone without smoking in a long time.

I'm using patches at the moment and they seem to take most of the stress away from not smoking which is good. I'm determined to give up this time. I sit down to do something and within 20 minutes I have to go outside to smoke so I just end up wasting so much time because of that and also I spend somewhere between £300 and £400 a month on smoking which is just ridiculous. I could get some really nice computer hardware in no time if I stopped completely. So that is my goal. If I manage to stop properly I'll treat myself when I buy my new computer :).

Anyone else trying to give up smoking?

Thanks for all the well wishes. I just did a Google search on nicotine gum and they seem to have a lot more flavours than when I tried to give up last time. All I remember about nicotine gum was it tasted god awful. I think I got the original flavour ones though so that might well explain it. Will try and get some just to ease the pain a little bit more when it gets difficult :).

Good luck man.

I was in the same boat this time last year, ive never had much luck with the patches etc, but fingers crossed it does the job for you.

If it gets too hard why not consider dropping by the vapers lounge, i promised myself if i couldnt quit "normally" then i'd switch to vaping, and the last ciggarrete i had was over 6 months ago got halfway through thought "this tastes like ****" and threw it in the bin alongside the rest of the packet.

I'll give vaping another try if I can't manage with just patches and gum. Hopefully I'll be able to slowly start coming off all the nicotine aids in a month or two and then hopefully I'll forget about it completely.

Yea they do taste rank, apart from the Ice one. That's what I found anyway.

At the risk of sounding cheesy, you can do it! and you will kick yourself when you realise how easy it was in reality.

Thanks :). Yeah for a month or two's worth of discomfort it is well worth it in the long run. Plus my lungs feel awful whenever I do any exercise so hopefully I'll be able to be fitter in the long run as well.

Well since I started this thread ages ago I thought I'd update on my progress :). Well it didn't go well. I bought a vaper and it was rubbish and the liquid was too weak so I got constant craving. But after following some advice I bought a much better vaper and found some places that sell much stronger liquids. I've tried it for a bit and it compelely removes my cravings. So I think I'll finally be able to kick the habit. I'll save so much money if I do it'll be insane plus I'll be able to watch a film all the way through without pausing for a smoke break.

Really pleased with this new bit of kit. If anyone else is struggling I highly recommend you check out the vaping thread here in General Discussion they seem really helpful (although it is a bit confusing at first).
