My cable modem has been failing to sync (last 2 LEDs) over the last 48 hours. Anyone else having problems in ST17 area?

Thankfully I have a complimentary Orange 3G stick on a 2nd sim card when I signed up to my Galaxy SII contract. That's what I'm using to post on OcUK at the moment.

If anyone can please confirm, that would be great. I don't want to go down the Indian call centre route as I'm hearing impaired. Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with my hearing and I can't tell what the **** the AOL call centre Indians are saying, plus I get hacked off at them trying to tell me a megabit is the same as a megabyte when I try to explain I paid for up to 8mb, with the promise I'd get 6mb so why am I on 4mb.

I had some issues the other day and when I phoned they said they were aware of a problem in the ST16 area but not sure about ST17

yes we have been down since Friday morning st17 not happy, anyone else managed to get any sense out of VM? rang 3 times now for an update and they keep robbing me off with our engineers are looking into it please try the automated status update line for etas. Wouldn't be too fussed with that but the help line recons I'm in st16 and it just says "we hope to get you back up and running as quickly as possible, goodbye."

Useless!

Thanks guys - I'm not alone then in ST17. I got a mate down the road too whose Virgin is slower than normal (but still connecting ok), thus it confirms that we have an area problem of some sort.

We did have some quite freaky rain in stafford the other day. There was a few trees over near where I live and water is getting into places it doesnt normally get into so perhaps they have some issues with that I dunno. I am in ST16 and as I stated in the previous reply I had some issues on Friday morning but its been fine since then with no issues.

I haven't been able to connect since last night. When I phoned today they said they aim to have it fixed by Thursday 3rd may. They also said they will refund customers several days worth to compensate for down time. Pretty rubbish but better than nothing.

How have you been contacting them? we phoned 3 times over the weekend via 150 (around midday) and all the people we got sounded Scottish.

Update for me, my partner spoke to them this morning and apparently the issue in our area has been resolved but we are still down, so they are sending an engineer out tomorrow.

Might be worth anyone else still having issues to ring them again.

Hiya, sorry for the late reply. My 3G allowance ran out so I was completely without net. Came downstairs this morning and saw that my cable model has finally re-synced. 5 days is an unusual amount of downtime, although my worst was 8 days downtime in summer 2005 back in the NTL days.

The number I've used in the past was 0845 454 1111.
