Anyone else NOT voting today?

It is down to the politicians to make the people want to vote, not "because people fought for the right".

Peoples apathy to the government is entirely the politicians fault, imo.

@ Vader: bugger, I did want to vote but didn't think I could, nevermind. Next time!

I did vote, but this argument is rubbish. People fought and died to take part in a democracy of choice, and if that choice is not to vote, for whatever reason, that is a choice.
Exactly.Pretty sure my relatives didn't fight and die to support the sort of criminal chancers that we get lumbered with.
Its all about choice.Whoever gets in is going to hammer us,and at least I can say I didn't ask for it!

I can't decide who the lesser evil is so I'm not going to vote.

All the parties have something to hide, and I hate the school ground politics that goes on, one party ripping the other to shreds, it's just all carp.

Whoever gets in, the country is still going to be up the spout so what's it matter :(

Exactly as I posted in the other thread...

They always say you cannot complain if you don't vote.

Well how can you vote if you don't know what the parties are going to do with the biggest issue facing the country. It should be laid out for us to make a choice about. It gets on my bits that none of them will discuss it because it's a vote loser and none of them want to properly discuss immigration because of the votes it might lose.

Anytime there is a poll on what issues concern the voting public in this country the economy comes out top. Therefore the issue that concerns most of us we are all voting for a party with only a 5th of the knowledge of what they are actually going to do post election. Thats a farce tbh.

I will be voting Lib Dem in the hope of a hung parliment, so these schoolboys can see what it's actually like to work together instead of poo pooing each others ideas just because they think they have to. Also I can't vote for one over the other because I don't actually know what they will do. Having a hung parliment will buy me some more time to see WTF they actually would do.

If there was a party worth voting for, I would.

My friend voted lib dem on the reason why oppose the debill

So you have a general sense of apathy towards all the policies and ideals that all the parties have? I can understand your disenchantment/disillusionment towards politics, however don’t you feel that in spite of not being drawn towards any party, that you should at least vote in such a way as to enable a change of direction to try and possibly re-introduce interest to you? But also for the country you live in?

Not having a go at all by the way, just genuinely interested. :)

Polling cards are not a requirement for voting.

According to information from card:

"This card is for information only. You can vote without it, but it will save you time if you take it to the polling station and show it to the clerk there."

So should I just turn up then...will my name be on a list or something?

I can't understand the mentality of those not voting. Do you not care? Do it make you feel anarchic?

when you have voted for years and always gone for the party that promise to do the best for your kids and promise to be the fairness to family that struggle, then to find they are no better than the last lot it makes you think why bother for those that died to give me that right to vote i thank them i really do, they all promise change, 3mths down the line nothing changes and so on. my opinion feel free to rip it to bits.:)

Really? What do you need then? I lost/misplaced my card amidst the chaos of moving house but would still like to vote.

As long as you don't start complaining a few months down the line that the current government is **** :p

Why do people always say this, no matter who we..i mean you vote in i'll still complain because they're all the same, a bunch of lying theiving scumbags who are out to line their own pockets !!!

You didn't vote Labour then ;)

So the two governments you'll have seen in your lifetime then, you didn't think about voting for alternatives?

I don't really like any of the main party policies. I mainly agree with Lib dems but not 100%.

And they say all this crap then don't do it, there is no accountability. i want numbers and a time frame. If they don't do it then they should be kicked out.

I would rather we were able to vote on individual policies as well. with the power of the Internet we should be able to vote on different subjects more often, real democracy.

Make yourself care, look at their policies and make a decision for christ sake. It's not hard.

The policies are bs though, they only show the good things they intend to do, you have to go to opposing parties websites to dig up the dirt on them and then you don't know if its true or not or them twisting things.

What's wrong with honesty, that's where this country is going wrong.

Exactly. It's all mud slinging and to have any faith in any of it means that you have to be a politics nerd like some of my friends. They're so totally convinced that they're right it's totally nauseating hearing them sprout conjecture.

How is the ordinary man supposed to make his mind up when all it comes down to is who can dig up the most dirt?
