..the completely different reactions that the PS3 and Wii press conference got in the threads here!? Shocking.

Wii = good
PS3 = not so good

??? I think the price went BADLY against Sony..whereas everything Nintendo has presented seems to have impressed, er, GOODLY?! :D

Perhaps this thread can be used to compare both systems/xbox360 and let the other two thread stick soley to their console...?

Well the Wii isn't made to be nor is advertised as a next gen console whereas the ps3 is so I dont think they compare in that sense but elsewhere..I think it's easy to see where the "people" prefer things :p

il tell you what would have been intresting, if e3 was the release of all 3 consoles, and then seen how we reacted

i think we would have all still been excited about the wii
but what of the 360 v ps3, i mean most people would support the 360 now as its been out 4 a bit and most of us have played on them

but if we had just seen the release conference of the 360 which would have impressed more

im not sure ,as ive always said whichever came to the market 1st (within a decent price range, which the ps3 would not have qualified for but scrap that for the moment) i would have bought

The Wii sounds interesting, but when i settle in for an evening of gaming, i dont wanna really be jumping around my room like a fricking nut playing nfl games or that.

I might get it after the new year but still i am just put off a bit by the strange silhoettes through my curtains :p

*sigh* you dont jump around like an eegit if you dont want to, you can use gamecube controllers, and most things, like red steel and tennis , you could do while sitting down

Oh, you don't need to worry. They will release copies of Winning Eleven to play with the 'normal' pad to keep traditional sofa gamers like you happy :)

Thing is both Nintendo and to some extent M$ have shown some innovation with their consoles, Nintendo has it's excellent controller and new way to play games, M$ have the seamless online experience to offer, Sony don't they just follow what everyone has done, after they have done it.

But then it just becomes a console thats not even next gen so like whats the point?

The main reason i will buy it is for the full downloadbale back catalogue, once they get that all online and sorted, then i'll be sold, although they haven't said much about that lately hmmm

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at but being a 'new-gen' console doesn't mean they have to abandon the traditional gamers. They cannot honestly hope to focus only on the 'new' gamers can they? You always see people complaining that they won't get the console because it's too weird and they can't play Pro Evo or whatever. Well, I'm just trying to open up their eyes up to the fact that they still can, and play these 'new-gen' games as well.

i know, all i am saying is when i aint really a big ninty fan is when u take the montion sensitivity away from the Wii, its just a wii bit dull (sorry couldnt resist lol)

i am sure it will sell in millions and people will love it, i am just saying i think it might be a wee bit time limited, feel the same with the eyetoy, sure get drunk dance around infront of the TV for a couple of hours, put away for a month and repeat u know?

but once you plug in a gamecube controller, then it wont have anything new to offer me? think it was the 2nd poster who said MS and Sony where going all out to be 'next gen' i dunno if i am making myself clear, i know what i mean in my head, and the voices in there agree with me too lol

Thats assuming the games support that method of play. If it does - then which control method gets the biggest focus?

sharingan_sasuk: What JUMPURS meant is if the console isn't a match for the Xbox 360 when it comes to 'normal' games, and you only want to play 'normal' games why get the Wii?

By normal I mean using a standard pad instead of swinging a piece of plastic into all of your furniture, speakers and ornaments.

You'll find a lot of bad stuff heading at both the PS3 and Wii over most of this forum as a lot of the people on here are owners of the Xbox 360.

I think a lot of people are sitting there with a 360, seeing some of the PS3 stuff and thinking it's not that special, and certainy isn't worth the £100 more than my 360 etc.

I'm still dubious about what the final PS3 is going to be like, and what the games will be like, as I'm yet to see more than about 3 proper ingame videos. Hopefully we'll see some proper camera footage of people playing these games instead of silly hype generating trailers. I want a PS3, and I'd love it to more powerful and be a beast, but currently nothing has shown me that personally, and only MGS4 has been a title that I'd buy the PS3 for currently.

Saying that, I've actually decided there are currently no 360 games that I would buy a 360 for personally at the time. Only Mass Effect and Jade Empire II are the ones that I'm going to be interested in, and maybe Dead Rising.

I don't want to say it, it'll jinx it and be cancelled or something :p
I think it's in development limbo or something like that at the moment.

I certainly agree there that most people wouldn't get it just for it's 'normal' games but I'm thinking from the other side, those who bought it for the 'new-gen' gaming, but also want something to fall back on should they want to take a break and play a bit of Pro Evo instead. I'm not making a rant at JUMPURS, I'm just trying to reiterate to the others who think the Wii is just all fun and weird.

All I'm just saying is that it's great that the Wii can offer this new innovative gaming AND 'normal' gaming. But if it's just 'normal' gaming you want, then yea, I agree that one of the other consoles would be best. Heck, I even bought an XBox360 the other day just for this reason because I'm only buying the Wii for it's innovative side. :)
