Anyone else on Virgin internet?

I dont mean to go on about it, but Ive just checked Speedtest.net, and am getting 74kbps download on an 8mb line. This is utterly ridiculous. Anyone got any advice? I think Im going to give it a week and ring them and give them a piece of my mind.

who said that the staff had changed or the equipment had been all ripped out and new equipment had been put in ? are you nuts lol
shortly before it became virgin media(happy?)... ntl were fine...i had been with them 8 years....there was never any throttling/capping and gaming was great.

then things changed.... never got the full speed no more and if i downloaded a bit before gaming on the evening it became a joke...gaming was near impossible through lack of upload bandwidth.

you think its my imagination ? you think the throttling isnt affecting gaming in any way ?
ntl never had a download cap then throttle.

also i had been in touch with them enough times and they said it straight that they are over subscribed too...some areas more than others

well you do have this problem with ntl now really mate, since NTL bought telewest, then the company took over virgin-mobile, and decided to take the name of virgin.
So you are dealing with the exact same company really..
Some companys change over time in terms of quality etc, sad to hear yours has gotten so bad, mines spot on at my uni flat and at my parents place too, hard to imagine it being carp to be honest, if it was as bad as some peoples here id be up on the phone and cancel it and get BT line in straight away and do an ADSL lucky dip :)

no its not that bad now but thats because im not with them anymore...im with BETHERE(BE).
i was on the phone to them enough times and even cancelling took about 6 months..... as they first wanted a months notice then twice they said they have no record of me wanting to cancel....and then they still billed me and the line was still active ....took about 6 months in total.
this is someone who was with them about 10 years...clearly its the mergers what they are doing which is making it worse....more and more customers yet they seem to be sharing the same bandwidth.

Are you able to verify it's the connection by doing the test with a different pc?

I been with them for about 10 years and their CC has really always been bad,if you have no problems it is fine but once you do it can be a pain to sort out.
i noticed the last few months, at times my 4 mb line acts like a 56k line i have days when i lost connection a lot.
